Good conference, would attend again.

That hostel had a pretty bitching atmosphere. Cheers to everyone who made HISF Downtown a lot of fun!

This is all true.

Hopefully people are reading this thread, but indies, I would recommend getting your Indie Games Summit pass for GDC 2013 _right now_. Looks like we will sell out of these passes much quicker than last year - half of the allotment is already gone.

(When sold out, you can still get into IGS with other passes, but it's quite a bit more expensive.)

Trying to decide whether I should scrape up the money for an IGS pass before they sell out or just apply to volunteer and hope I get in. (Actually, what happens if I buy the IGS pass but then get accepted to volunteer?)

I'm also looking for hotel/hostel recommendations or a general place to crash that would be super cheap but also close to the conference.

Edit: This will be my first year and I'm looking to do it on the cheap. Would an IGS pass alone be worth it and keep me busy for the week?

Got my IGS pass. First GDC for me, yay.

I live in SF so I might be able to let a couple TIGers crash at my place.

Hi-SF Downtown, without a blink of hesitation. http://sfhostels.com/downtown/ Michal and I stayed there last time because we heard it was full of indies, and it was. Great atmosphere, cheap as piss, good time.

We'll very likely be in there again this year, currently focussing on finishing the damn game but that alumni discount sounds excellent Well, hello there!
