Indie Art Jam.  Denny's.

BEN RUIZ THIS IS ON YOU.

Waitwaitwait. I haven't heard anything about an Art Jam. Must be browsing the wrong parts of the site. Can anyone fill me in here? Because it sounds mighty interesting.  Well, hello there!

Bah! The whole "setting up" thing threw me off. I shouldn't write replies at three in the morning. (Five am is so much better for that.) Epileptic

I have no idea if this is the appropriate thread, but I'm too excited to care.

I just got myself an all-expenses paid expo pass! I'm going to GDC!  Hand Shake Left Kiss Hand Shake Right

I've got an internship at an indie game company and they've got more passes then they have employees, so one of them now belongs to me! WOOHOO!

Urrrgghh! Want to go...so bad!  Epileptic

My job situation is a bit unstable at the moment. My office is closing down, and most of the employees are getting the boot. I've been offered a contract position, and it starts a week or two before GDC. Because it's a contract position, I should be able to "negotiate" the time off I would need to attend. (basically, I would work crazy overtime for a few weeks before going) I can do that, that's not a problem.

The problem is the cashola. I work for a web-design company. They are never going to pay for me to attend a game conference. I would have to lay down the cash myself. (and that's a lot of cash) I'm not ruling that out, but I'm also applying for a volunteer position.

I'd love to meet up with any other TIGSource regulars if I get to go. I'm afraid I can be a bit of a wet blanket when it comes to the partying. (I don't drink) But I love talking games, and game design.

I've got my plane tickets and Expo Pass purchased. I am as good as there. I'll be flying in Thursday morning, and leaving late Saturday afternoon. Looking forward to this adventure, and I'm game for any meet-ups.

Going, but with an expo pass.  I'd really like to attend the Indie Games summit, but don't have the money.

Although, I was wondering something.  I saw a story on Engadget about people signing up for either the Mobile Phone Summit or Indie Games Summit get a Droid or Nexus One.  Is this still going on?  If I could get the phone and sell it on craigslist for a few hundred, I could justify the Summits & Tutorials Pass.  Beg

I believe that only worked if you purchased your pass before the early bird deadline. Sorry Sad

Is the student pass good?

I have never been to GDC and as a student, most of the seminars in the main conference are not applicable to me this early in my career. However, I was thinking that the networking opportunities in the Career Pavillion would be interesting to go to.

Has anyone been? Or is it kind of a big sales pitch for Digi Pen? This is what the pass includes: GDC Expo, Game Career Seminar, and Career Pavilion

Blah, no budget at work to pay for GDC so might have to pay my own way which means Expo Pass.  Trying to decide if its worth it since I wont be able to go to talks.  Are there any open invite indie parties or gettogethers going on?

Has anyone seen the Mega64 GDC ads? I think they're just hilarious.
GDC is another one of those events that I curse myself for living out here in the hinter lands of Illinois.
