Tried to put in some vertical parallax, I'll have to add some stuff in those background layers, like trees and stuff.  I think it looks ok.

Added a few things since my last update

Some new enemy AI, it's pretty simple, but it works for the most part, and I got all the animations in there.  I added a main menu, and some tutorial prompts which I'm not sure are necessary but oh well.  Then I added some music but you can't really see that here, it's royalty free but it sounds ok, it's just placeholder for now.  I'm gonna work on a level editor I think, because this is getting tedious.

Anyway, more updates soon, need to get back into updating often.

Added this purge ability, basically whenever you kill enemies you'll fill up a gauge and once it's full you can use it to unleash a powerful attack depending on what spell you have.  So this is the fire one.  Dat fps drop.

I'll have to optimize it a bit more, but that's the gist of it.  You won't be able to use it this often though, you'll probably have to get like 20 kills or something, really work for it.

Yep, they broke.  The website that I uploaded all the images has been deleted pretty much.  I'll try to reupload them all if I can.  What a pain...

Anyway here is art for the forest levels, still fiddling around with the colors and there is more foliage to add as well.

Starting to add more detail into the beach levels, also I found a way to slow down my gifs to normal speeds, so this is more of the speed that my game is actually at.  Maybe slightly faster

Game has shades of super meat boy... not that that's a bad thing. The thing I could say is perhaps the purge option could have a lower limit and instead slowly returns to zero unless you kill more monsters? That way you can reward speed runs?

Yea this game was very inspired by Super Meat Boy, my favorite modern platformer and originally just going to be a SMB clone but I ended up changing it a lot and now it's a rogue lite with shooting and abilities.  I would describe it as Super Meat Boy meets Cave Story meets Binding of Isaac/Risk of Rain/any rogue lite.

And that's a good idea, like a cool down.  I definitely want this game to be speed run friendly so I really like that idea.

Hmm, nice logo. It's pretty sophisticated though. Can't really decide if I like it, it conveys speed and the elements of the game well, but readability isn't as clear as other logos because it is 3D. It's not like you can't actually make out the text, it's just a little cramped.

It does convey the game though, so yeah, there's that. With a few less particles it's 100%. Looking nice, love the colours in this game, and it just keeps getting better  Hand Clap

Doing art for sky levels, it's proving quite difficult to be honest.  Choosing colors is hard.
