According to our extensive and entirely fictional research, there are two types of Mechanics: those who are afraid of intruders, and those who are just too plain lazy to open a door. Our made up statistics reveal that both of these key groups will benefit from our brand new sensor. This thing will trigger whatever you want it to trigger when someone or something moves in its way, which could be a door or even a trap that you’ve built. Just make sure you don’t step in it by accident if you’ve gone all ‘Home Alone’ and set it up to trigger something lethal.

Thruster gameplay video

Development is going great here.
It’s finally time to introduce the thruster! If you consider yourself a Mechanic with a flair for skyward-bound creations or you just wanna mindlessly blast stuff over the horizon, this is the device for you. The thruster is great fun to use. Here’s our latest introduction video showing how the Thruster works step by step. Enjoy!

From the very early days of development, we wanted the character to respond to movement when driving. Many games tend to opt for a set animation or even just a static mesh, which looks pretty odd when you’re watching a vehicle taking a beating. Since Scrap Mechanic is a very physics-based game, we wanted to make sure we went all-in on this, and because you can build so many different things in the game, we wanted the character to respond in a cool and realistic way to what you build and how you drive: not just to increase the ‘amazing realness’ factor, but also because it’s just plain hilarious. We’ve lost count of the times we’ve cracked up at the office watching the mechanic get jacked up by an uncomfortable ride… Sometimes we’ve even felt sorry for our little dude, but it’s mainly just funny as heck. Maybe it seems like a small detail, but it’s a whole ton of hard work to get it looking just right, and we feel like it makes a big difference.

We’ve made heaps of awesome progress on our multiplayer this last month!
There have been more than just a few intense races lately at our office "room".
It’s really fun to build vehicles and then take them for a race against friends to see who's vehicle is the best.
Here are some screenshots from our last multiplayer session.

Co-op steering, really fun!

Here is a fun thing
Our first print magazine feature! The awesome guys at Swedish magazine ‘Robot’ got the chance to visit our tiny office room to play the game.
The magazine is out in Sweden and in the UK from what we hear.
