What is this about?

Legends of Pixelia is an action role-playing game that combines retro pixelart with modern gameplay mechanics. Tired of left-clicking through hordes of brainless one-hit-KO enemies? Random dungeons, precise controls via gamepad (or keyboard) and a strong fighting game AI provide challenging encounters.



Key features:

• Choose from multiple hero classes with unique abilities
• Procedurally generated dungeons and rooms
• 21 boss fights + 21 crazy boss fights in Game+
• Build your hero with level-up stats and randomly generated items
• Fast-paced combat that favors good positioning and timing
• Plug in some gamepads to enjoy local multiplayer
• Fight against your friends in Versus mode (PvP)

What's new?
Hey again! Dungeon 3 is finished, there's a release date for the early access of LoP and it has got some more media/ press coverage. The Steam Greenlight and the IndieGoGo campaigns are still running.

Dungeon 3, so cold in there!
The Frozen Temple is ready to be visited by your fearless heroes. Put on some warm clothes and let the adventure begin.



There are lots of water/ice themed creatures in it like penguins, yetis and turtles.



The enemies and bosses have some new skills and effects. Learn them and win the battle.



Enjoy hostile bombs in combination with ultimate boss skills. Now it's your time to show off your godly dodge skills.



Hm... The endboss looks familiar. Guess what happens when you touch the altar. It says "Be Prepared!", so you better are... ^^



Early Access
So, when will the gates to dungeon 3 open up? Legends of Pixelia's early access will start on April 15th. Everyone with a "Beta Game" or higher perk on IndieGoGo will be able to play the full version (beta) of Legends of Pixelia starting on that day. Want to try the other hero classes? Want to play PvP? One month to go! :-)

What's new?
Howdy! There is a new demo version (beta this time) of Legends of Pixelia available, featuring an ingame tutorial and a new highscore system. Also, the Early Access of Legends of Pixelia starts on April 15th -- preorder it now and save >50%.


Demo Beta 0.50
Every newly created hero in the new demo (B 0.50) will start the game in a tutorial stage. To help new players to get into the game and it's mechanics, there are lots of info boxes with texts and images on them.





There is also a new mechanic called 'Skill Shields'. A skill shield renders enemies immune versus all incoming damage except for one attack. Once you hit a skill shielded enemy with the right skill, the skill shield vanishes.



This enemy is immune versus my B-Button (red) skill, because it has a blue skill shield. The first hit with my X-Button (blue) will remove it.



Note: Not every enemy has a skill shield. It's used mostly by super easy enemies and its design goal is to help players to learn how to use their skills in the early dungeons. :-)

B 0.50 Changes:
- Slightly reduced the number of rooms per stage
- Minimum damage taken (from enemies) now has a 2s cooldown. This supports gameplay with high defensive stats.
- Lowered the exp curve for heroes below level 80 (to gain level-ups faster)
- Added visual effects when collecting gold or being healed
- Added a short delay before being able to collect powerups
- Added a visual effect for every skill/ animation/ buff that grants Endu or Invi
- Stage 1-1 is a tutorial now (if your hero's level is low)
- New Enemy Buff: Skill Shield, can only be broken by the matching attack
- All Enemies: Rebalance
- Added a "brightness" value to the options menu
- The inventory menu is now more linear and easier to navigate
- The blacksmith menu no longer shows empty item slots
- Bugfixes...
*** Web ***
- Added a Highscore (Top100) that resets monthly: www.legendsofpixelia.de/top100
- The Top10 are displayed ingame
- Added a Daily Log that logs every score: www.legendsofpixelia.de/dailylog
- Added an option to tweet your score with a link to your Daily Log entry
*** System Changes ***
- Destroying all objects in a room felt like a chore to some players, two changes:
1) Crates and barrels no longer drop powerups
2) Increased the spawn chance for chests and pots (they always drop powerups)
- Dying in an endboss battle felt frustrating, because you had to beat stage 1 and stage 2 again:
1) You can restart a single stage now (from the "Pause" menu or the "Game Over" menu)
2) The score for evasion and best dungeon time do not reset when restarting a stage

Highscore System
The global highscore is displayed ingame on the main menu section.



You get a score every time you finish a dungeon. Your score is high when you clear a dungeon fast and with a low number of hits from enemies. Also, finishing a dungeon now gives you the option to share your score via twitter.



The predefined tweet contains a link to the Daily Log that contains every finished dungeon run for one week. This should prevent sharing a fake score. :-)

What's new?
Hey There! Dungeon 4 is finished, the Early Access starts next week and Legends of Pixelia is one year in development now.

Dungeon 4: Gaia Tree
The fourth dungeon in Legends of Pixelia is the interior of a giant tree, the Gaia Tree.



It is inhabited by plant monsters and orcs. Be careful, the enemy AI starts to be very strong here -- and, as you see in the screenshot below, they have melee focused skill shields.



Some of the orcs are able to summon shot eating crystals (the blue eggs on the screenshot below that have a health bar). Don't rely too much on your ranged skills in this dungeon...



One Year of Development
I started the development of Legends of Pixelia in April 2014 -- Happy Birthday LoP! Lets have a look at how the game changed during the first year. Very early hero sprites:



The top images show some sprites of the knight class, the barbarian and the paladin can be seen in the bottom line.

I decided to rework the hero's sprites to be more minimalist, here's a screenshot of a knight in dungeon 1, captured in September 2014 (alpha):



After reworking the barrels, crates, walls and the lighting, here is an up-to-date screenshot of the same scene, a knight in dungeon 1 (beta):



Early Access starts next Week
I thought it would be a good idea to start the Early Access after one year of development. As you might already know, the Early Access of Legends of Pixelia starts on April 15th -- that's next week! There is a preorder sale running at the moment, so if you don't have a copy of it yet, take your chance and get it for a discounted price on itch.io:

Greetings! Some exciting news: Legends of Pixelia will be available on Steam and Desura in June and a new hero class is on its way to support the others... Or fight them in PvP.

Sentinel
The Sentinel is a hard to learn character class, but once you master using his abilities, he will be able to control the battlefield and support his allies. He can throw spears, break enemy shots and he has the ability to jump into the skies and bring death from above.

Lots of progress in the last two months. We went from version 0.90 to 0.93, the Sentinel and the Archer hero classes have been added to the game.
The current version (0.93) released yesterday and features a new NPC (shop), an option to config your gamepad and lots of balance changes.

Well, I just liked the name when I chose it a year ago and there was nothing video game related to "Pixelia" yet. :-)

Lots of stuff happened in the last months:

- I finally managed to release version 1.00 (after 18 months of hard work).
