Pre-post note: Turtles of Destiny has been away from social media a bit, but that’s not due lack of work on the project. We are working hard on this project. Vicente just got new pointers and refs for the Sfx, Sarah just sent some great assets last week, Geoff is taking a time off to work on some personal stuff, Bash, JJ and Me are working on a new great mechanic and in a month or so we will have a new build. Thank you for all the great feedback we received on the last build. We <3 you.
I often write about mechanics, the team and even the emotional ride that we are in, but I hardly write about the game story. I don’t why I never wrote about it, it’s a story driven game for god’s sake. Anyways. Writing the story is one of my favorite parts, I always have an lovely time creating this fantasy world with Sarah. It’s far from finished but we already got the big scope down and I’m glad with what we got on our hands so far. Today I will share with you some of my main inspiration sources. This will be an ongoing series of posts and at each post has 3 out of the 12 sources I selected.

Disclaimer: This post reflects the taste and experience of Ernani Rocha (Me! :D) only.

Ayahuasca: "Ayahaua what?“, Ayahuasca Smiley  It’s a weird name for a entheogenic brew that is somewhat common over here in Brazil. The first time I drank it was somewhere between 2006/2007 and it changed my life. It made me see my imperfections from an outside perspective and it helped me (still helps) in the self-development department. Trying to describe the sensation of the brew it’s an impossible mission, it’s just like describing orgasm. I know there is someone out there saying:
"Ok trippy mystical friend, but what does this Pink Floyd tea has to do with the game?”. Ayahuasca is about solving puzzles in order to make progress through a mysterious place.

Matrix: Philosophy, Martial Arts, Anime, Psychology, Politics, Technology, history, greek mythology and religion. It’s all there and it isn’t at the same time. The directors mixed those themes (talking about the first the movie) so perfectly that none of them feel out place. In our game we gathered references from different themes also and if we can glue just like the Wachowskis did…it will be awesome!
Quentin Tarantino: The passion this person puts into his writing is unparalleled. I love the flow of his nonlinear storytelling, but in my opinion his greatest skill lies on building his characters. There is so much attention on the way they move, talk and do things. Coronel Hans Landa is the “living” proof of that. I hope we can hit a close spot when developing our characters.

That's all for today. Stay tuned for the next 3 sources.

Hi all! Just wanted to drop in to say a huge thank you for all the positive comments on Love Theme! I've been busy this last month working on a small game, but now that's finished you'll be hearing a new Turtles of Destiny track soon, so stay tuned! Thanks again. Coffee

By: Ernani Rocha

A year ago I decided to make games. A risky decision because my area of
expertise (marketing) is so far away from gamedev. After a while I learned the
basics of programming (C#), it was very hard at times but I got help from
a lot guys that I never met and one of them was João.

JJ (his nickname) spent hours helping with the game and that’s when I decided
to invite him to the game. Six months after he joined the project we won several awards at the Gamepolitan.
- Best Game Award
- Best Game Design
- Best Art Award

It was one of the happiest days of our lives and all of this would be impossible without him.

Unfortunately JJ died yesterday. He had tuberculosis and was in coma.
He was in college and work in two other projects that had the same focus….games.
I know his times on earth was limited, but it was enough to spread a powerful lesson.
Nobody knows when this ride ends, so you are better off doing what you love.

JJ I promises you that we (@Bash and @Sarah) will end our game and release it on steam.
Have a good trip my friend and thank you for believing in me.
