Crusader of Centy.

It's a fairly obscure Genesis game that, at a glance, looks like Link to the Past.  But other than swinging a sword at monsters and being able to cut grass, it's a fairly superficial resemblance.
It's got some interesting gameplay elements going for it, like a focus on jumping, and use of these Kirby-like "fuses" that change portions of the map.
It's also got some interesting thematic things going on that question its genre.  But I don't want to spoil that.

It does suffer from some awkward localization, though.  The European version "Soleil" might be a better choice in that regard.
But it's a pretty fun and charming game.  And probably not a lot of people here would have played it.

That doesn't invalidate his opinion/reasoning. Heck, I was born right around Galaga, maybe we should do a month of that. :p

I've been a member here since I was 15, and I'm pretty sure that game development is the one industry that shouldn't be focused on age. Especially since there is a lot of young people on Tigsource, ImpMaster is one that comes to mind.

Anyway, what they said doesn't really bother me, considering that it was meant as a joke. Gomez

also do we really need to do another game that everyone has played to death

That's the inevitable result of the voting system the Game Club is using. The only way for a game to be chosen is for it to receive multiple votes, and it's unlikely a single game gets multiple votes if nobody's played it. It's pretty much a popularity contest, it's inevitable that a game that everyone has played to death will be chosen.

we played games like vampire bloodlines and pathologic in the previous incarnation of game club. also metroid 2 is one of the most overlooked games in the series.

Obscure games can win if they have a thread champion to talk them up and encourage votes for them.

Thread over! Crusader Kings 2 wins, if I did my math right. Sinclair, if you would like to pick a start for everyone to go by and make the Game Club thread, I'll let you do so.

As for popularity contest complaints: if y'all want me to pick from the most interesting or best suggestions, I can. I like the overall voting, though. Champion the game you like and there's a very good chance it'll be picked.
