When Lyle summons, throws, walks or idles with a regular cube his hands stay on the same level. Same goes for giant cubes, just that the level is a little bit lower (since the cube is heavier). I also added an idle animation when he's carrying the giant cube.
Great. That will look much better.

The only exception might be while jumping and falling with regular cubes - his hands might be off by a pixel or two - but I don't really think it'll be seen in-game. If it does look weird, I still can change it.
Shouldn't matter at all.

Another special case is summoning the giant cube - I just like how it falls down and he pushes the weight back up. If that turns out to be too cumbersome to implement you can always skip the last couple of frames.
Since the giant cube isn't treated as a regular item, it doesn't need to follow the same rules. I like the weight, too.

[/quote]Summon shadow cube (can't we just use the regular summoning animation for this?)

Yeah. But something like this: would be good.

Actually, I just noticed that the shadow cube in the first post isn't the right one. I'll update it later today.

Sure, no problem. So are we going to use this one or this one ?

Also I updated the OP with some particles for the giant cube.

Since the phantom cube is more powerful now, I thought we'd go with a flashier sprite.

Alright, cool, I liked that one the most anyway. I'll whip up a summoning effect sometime soon then.

Also: can Lyle kick (or punch for that matter) while he is holding a regular cube? Then I need to make two animations for that, too.

No, he can't. The only attack he can use while holding an item is his >S grab attack.

Also, could you make another version of the throw animation for the giant cube, with Lyle standing winded briefly after throwing it?
Actually, just adding some lag to the regular throwing animation would be fine. There's additional lag after his >A, so that animation could work there, too.

Looks really good but I think the motion blur is in the wrong place.

Slide kick was the only outstanding thing I saw. So here's a platform to build from

I've never played the game, so I'm not sure if there's a certain way he does it.

That's a good try, but it's not a sliding kick so much as a "push away a large box" kick.

I think it might take a while to get that to look right for a fighting game.  Shrug

Lyle also needs a shadow cube summoning animation and cooldown on his forward throwing animation.

To make it more action-y he could summon the cube then spin-kick it? Would have a lot more emphasis.

And a grab animation.

He's not done yet, but he's getting close.

Sorry, forgot to update the OP - done now.

I already have a basic kicking animation done, but it needs some more work. I'll try to finish it tonight, but if anyone wants to get their hands on the grabbing in the meantime, please go ahead!
