Hey guys!!! I'm excited to be starting a topic. Even though my game's not ready yet for a DevLog yet, I think it's pretty important for us to share this experiment with the indie development world.

So I'm an indie in Atlanta and the coordinator of the Indie Cluster, a traveling booth and online community. Part of our plan to reach out and share information, locally and globally, is starting a podcast. I'm proud to say we finally had our first recording session and the episode is up! Don't judge too hard but we do need your feedback. We want this to be informative and entertaining for all devs. We want to use the growth of this podcast, the growth of our games, and the growth of us as entrepreneurs as a kind of blog for aspiring indies. Hopefully we can sway you to support and get involved, we'd love to to collab and shout you out on show.

Hosted by The Indie Cluster-

Thanks so much!
Please listen and critique, we're definitely not professionals at this but we want to do it for our community!!

Nice podcast! Some suggestions:

1) Get a better mic. I can hear some of the background noise which sounds like air conditioning is turned on. Higher quality mics are more expensive, but it's worth it and is essential when doing a podcast.

2) Regarding the first episode, I would suggest taking more control when doing an interview. The interviewee in the 1st episode kind of rambled on and I lost interest early on. I also had no idea what SnarfQuest Tales was and wished that was explained early on. I would also ease more into the interview instead of jumping straight into it like the way it was done. So instead of starting off the episode with "Hey James talk about yourself", you could instead do something like "Hey guys, welcome to the podcast! My name is [insert name] and today I'm here with [insert name] who's making a game called SnarfQuest. So [insert name] tell us about SnarfQuest and what kind of game it is." Something like that where there's more direction while keeping the audience in mind. General questions like "talk about yourself" are great in that it opens up a lot of things that can be discussed, but know when the conversation is getting stale or when the interviewee is rambling on. You shouldn't interrupt someone, but at the same time you should know when to take control and steer the conversation somewhere else.

3) Make sure people are close to the mic and are speaking loudly and clearly at all times. In the 4th episode, for example, people were kind of talking in a low voice which makes it harder to hear what's being said.

Hope this helps!

Thank you for that!! We appreciate the feedback and definitely agree with you on all points. The interview was a tricky one because we were filming it and kinda built it around a script (and then had to use the audio from the film alone)... Lot of bad production work lol but we're indie and have gotten a bit better. Hopefully we can continue to grow and invest into the podcast while obtaining and sharing useful information  Beer!

Episode 8 was really, really soft. My speakers were at maximum and I still had trouble. I really wanted to hear about marketing.

Hey,

I was wondering if you were planning to post these to iTunes? That's how I usually listen to podcasts.
