Skills and character progression! After your character will level up, he will be able to learn a new skill from random set of two. Every class have their own pool of skills. Some skills are shared and some are unique for each class. So this way units will be a bit different each run, but still you'll be able to make "builds", just in the different order of getting skills for it. Early ui for it. And some variations.

I misread "scream" as "sarcasm", and thought now there's a badass skill.
the early UI looks pretty good already.

I wonder what could it do? Stun or decrease accuracy of the target for a few turns? Hehe.

Btw, how does Beneath The Tower sounds as the game title? I like the name, but it does sound to me like the game is actually set under the tower - so underground.

Beneath The Tower is ok but what "tower"? Dark Tower, Watch Tower, Tower of Doom. I really like Dark tower, but it's already taken by Stephen King. My english is not that great to write interesting texts, but this: --- For many generations people have lived over the top levels of the Great Tower. It was a safe place, where many good families found home for themselves. But just beneath them, on the floors below - lays long corridors and dark places, full of horror and dangerous beasts. Only few brave men have ever went there, and even less had returned back. Those lucky ones who have returned may be able to tell stories of the cold and heat, dark and light, death and life. Of strange creatures and ancient ruins. Of mysterious artifacts and bloody fights that they had to get through.
Will you be the one of them? To visit the the forgotten grounds and learn its secrets? Or you'd maybe decide to go even further, to the old and abandoned tunnels beneath the tower? And will you be returning back?--- This is how I come up with the name.

Looking amazing, as always! Really excited for it What do the items do? Are they things you can use in the middle of a battle? I'm guessing for like healing/buffing, stuff like that?

2Octopus Tophat, thanks, man!
Right now you can only use consumable-items out of battle. To heal/restore energy and get some bonus exp from mushrooms for your party members. Other ones could give you permanent stat bonus or hurt you instead. Similar to unidentified potions from traditional roguelikes.
Haven't decided yet if you could use items in the battle, but your question about them gave me some ideas.

Changed fog of war animation for the world map. How does new scaling effect looks like? Better or...? New one on the top, and old one on the bottom.

I must admit that I prefer the old one, I find that the new one takes too much attention, I prefer when it's subtle.

Yeah the old one is a lot better I know how it feels to change something, and try to convince yourself it looks better because of all the work you put into it. It actually doesn't look that bad for discovering new tiles. The main problem is the way the tiles look when they go out of sight. Maybe when you discover tiles, they can do that grow effect, but the ones that go away can fade? Like, mix the two effects?

Thanks guys! I thought that the new one could be a bit too much, but wasn't sure. I stopped on the old one, but changed fade effect speed based on how far it's from the player party. Small change, but I think it's much better now.

I like the attention to details, but be careful not to lose yourself with too much of those haha.
