you cannot maintain that level for so long, especially that game is slow and the middle of creation is unexciting ... also they maybe hasn't plan a good PR plan. Playtonic is more pro and reveal thing really slowly, they didn't reveal the main until long after and the villain isn't even on the map yet.

In my opinion the industry NEEDS 3D platformers. There are not enough games nowadays for kids to play and really enjoy, and 3D platformer is just the best video game genre in this case. And speaking of grown-ups, I feel that the n64/playstation1 nostalgia is at its peak now, so a lot of gamers would be very glad to play a new great 3D platformer game.
This. Seems like the industry traded those games for Arkham, Assassin's Creed, Infamous and Uncharted.

idk about that, in terms of "pure" play, minecraft mops the floor with every 3d platformer ever
personally i like n64 platformers because they have some super intricate nonlinear level design, genuine exploration and are among the few 3d games that actually use the 3d space well.

kinda depressing to think about how most modern 3d games arent much more "3d" than doom was. and that wasn't even really 3d lol.

Pillars, propellers, etc. ( ・・) Make a large enough drone and you have basically made a floating platform in real life.

I've said this a lot of times actually, we can cope with things like hills and such but otherwise our brains are pretty much wired for navigating planes (or more specifically, the real life equivalent of heightmaps). Probably it has to do with the fact that gravity pretty much forces nearly everything on Earth to prefer that kind of arrangement in the first place. Incidentally this is why I find 6DOF games nearly impossible to play, I'm guaranteed to get lost all the time. If there isn't some indicator constantly telling me which way to rotate, I won't get anywhere.

Your brain is wired to nothing in that regard and can adapt to anything. kinda depressing to think about how most modern 3d games arent much more "3d" than doom was. and that wasn't even really 3d lol. I feel the same. Wish there would be more diversity around like Unreal Tournament Classic (1999).

But guys the portal games are very much vertical in design. One of their most important gameplay synergies involves falling great/infinite heights. And I can pretty easily navigate 3d space come one we've all played Minecraft or Mario galaxy.
