Thanks again for your comments.

Yeah, the Logo screen have been slightly updated.
For Steam Greenlight (Coming real soon) we wanted some movement in the title image
but not too much. Now the letters glow in order than a slow general fade from white + bling at the end!

In some screenshots some pixels look scaled/non-square. But in general you seem to strictly respect the virtual resolution (no pixel rotation or different sized pixels). How will the game be scaled? Do you simply scale up by 2, 3, 4 and scale to fill above*?

*Many games tend to ignore anti-aliased big pixels over ~4x4, nowadays.

First I want to say Zorg, those animations you made look great! Smiley Will seriously consider adding those flashes to the title screen.

About the resolution and scaling...

The game is made in the resolution 240x135. Everything is drawn in this resolution and then scaled up to fill the entire screen with nearest neighbor scaling. Scaling 8x will result in FullHD (1980x1080), for other resolutions the pixels can vary a little bit in size but we decided that it is better to fill all screens (aspect ratio is kept of course).

We are purists when it comes to pixel graphics so we don't want to mix resolutions. The cover image we will use for Steam Greenlight is the only image so far that has mixed resolutions, we had to do that otherwise the characters would be too small.

The color palette is limited also, we don't have strict rules for this but the graphic artist is using a custom palette in Cosmigo Pro Motion.

I like the game pixel style. Good luck with Greenlight!  Smiley

You could add the Greenlight link to your signature and the first post.  In the first post you can use the Greenlight "support us" image banner.  In the signature, some developers just add a text hyperlink, others add an image (either the "official" Greenlight support banner or a custom made one).  Either way, the easier to find the link, the better. Hey Friends!

Good to see your comments and feedback. Thank You all!
The game is continuously being improved and tweaked. Several suggestions have already
been put forth, and we shall heed every call. Well, maybe not shooting lasers from swords. Hmm..?

The Demo in the first post, or right here: http://www.gamephase.net/download/629/
People are finding out that deathmatch is already lots of fun (although glitchy). It's not properly implemented yet, but: Grab a friend, clear the first level of monsters, then...GO!!!!

Some concrete issues:

1) Less moves, more crazy action pace?

2) More combat moves & strategy, less frantic?

Every comment helps us decide which areas needs improvement and what's desirable.
Don't hesitate to mail, comment or point out! So thankful that epic pixel action adventures still gets love in the community.

Until next time,

Somewhere in Nhâastans.

//Team GamePhase

If you like the Demo, please remember to vote on Greenlight! That would be so epic!

Nothing is  impossible, let's say that for now!  Cool
We'll see how the PC version does and go from there.

i think the art style is a nice mix of the overdone 'modern' retro pixel look and almost snesified nes type graphics.... looks cool

Thank You @Dweedes!

Some people are tired of retro pixel games, I can see why that is.
I don't see it as something retro necessary.
It's a choice of style and scope where a lot of room is left for imagination and interpretation.
Well that's the idea anyway. Of course there's nostalgia involved for all of us. But that can be said for lots
of tings, like movies and music and so forth.

I always make the argument that pixel art and animation gets the brain working along, and
many times 3D rendered graphics sesms boring and always a bit off (due to comparing with realism)

Pixel rant end.

Hello Friends,

This week's question:

What do you enjoy the most in a game like Thy Sword. (What's best in life!?)
That is platform roguelite action.

1) Story, settings, immersion

2) Action, combat moves etc

3) Sweet, ultimate  combination of everything

4) Other?

And Bonus question for brave souls:

How do you feel about permadeath and continue options?

Starting over every time but with some limited options (characters, unlockables)

Save points and more casual handheld gameplay?

We'd like to hear your opinions!

Just played the demo. Heavy attack has that souls-like high risk high reward feeling, but I could never get the enemy with it. Maybe you should show where exactly the character gonna land his attack? Great demo tho!  Coffee

@da_neel:

Thanx! Just try to single out a goblin on a longer platform with lots of room and practice!
(You could also try on the menu screen before starting)

Edit: Oh see what you mean, like an in-game hint.
