Hello fellow gamedevs,

Not every day is epic progress day. But at least there are some icons done!

Well now:

We're planning and implementing level formulas today.
Trying to come up with a smart way of spawning the monsters...
Filling the early levels with low level monsters, then it gets harder from there.

The prototype we're building at the moment is mainly for getting a balanced combat system.

We still have lots of work to do, but anyone who's interested
in playtesting later on, drop us a line or comment below!

I can't help but be a sucker for tiny pixels, especially ones and distinct as these! I really love the palette and compositions

Particularly loving that bow implementation, looks like it'll really encourage skill shots.

Thank you DizzyDoo!
Yes, you'll have a clear advantage if you practice your shots.
Of course, you'll need a steady supply of arrows in your quiver.

Hello, I'm the friendly merchant. I bring you today's news.

Planning the different areas/levels. As you may guess from the screenshots caves and mountains are where we're dweling atm. What would you like to see?

The game looks pretty cool. I don't why, but I'm getting BlackThorne vibes. Must all the green little goblises and brown backgrounds Wink

As for the locations - maybe some sort of huge outdoors construction site? Pyramids or something like that. It could have all the platforms and ladders you can imagine. This could also allow to add the inside of the pyramids as a second location and switch between them. I don't know, of course, how good that is for your game setting Wink

Trees with platforms are a really old concept, but could also work. The inside of the huge trees would go vertically rather than horizontally, but maintain all the same concepts.

Mountains with ledges?

Ooh! Ooh! Goblin or dwarven mines! Haven't seen those in a long time Grin

@mk: arrows are just left scattered around after they've been fired atm.
The levels are pretty straight forward right now, so yet no need of using arrows. Yet...?

@Mr. Levich: Thank you, good suggestions! Pyramids are always nice. We were going for a forest theme, so you nailed that one.

We are making the soundtrack for the game partly with SID-Wizard for the Commodore 64, thanks to a modified version of the exporter I managed to get noise free recordings.

Update 17.7.2015:
------------------

Here's a screenshot with some explanation of what's going on!
The playable prototype isn't far off now. So excited for you guys to playtest this!!!
Anyone who has played Barbarian on the old C64 may recongize some of the slick moves.

Good progress on the level layouts, monster spawning formulas and level up system.
A few other hints in there, but that's for later.

Greetings. I am the Death Pope. Let me present you with a crew of monsters.
These are very competent and specialize in slaying foolish heroes.

To my left: goblin archer, goblin (spear+shield), Rock Giant, Blade Orc, Harpy, Imp.
