Getting close to having enough for the trailer & greenlight. American Beauty, haven't thought about it in a while but you're right it fits right in there.

Anybody have any ideas for the name? I'm not that in love with Family Man but I spent ages thinking about it without any better alternatives.

I like Family Man, easy to write and easier to remember.

My 2 cents.

- Square Man
- Average Dad
- Regular Man
- Normal Neighbor
- Just Enough
- White fence

I'm surprised you guys like the name. Thanks for the suggestions, keep em coming!

Today's update will be about guns as I've just implemented them, I'll go into some detail on weapon animation too.

Guns work. This took way longer than I had hoped. Will do a post about how it works tomorrow.

So, guns and animation.

I'm not the most gifted animator so I decided for the player weapons I would create a procedural system that I could animate in code. Essentially the entire system runs on a very simple smooth lerp with layers upon layers.

Hopefully this image explains.

There's an ambient lerp on the parent object giving a constant set of movement, then if the aim button is pressed the weapon and arm lerp towards the target position while the idle is still in effect. On top of that when the weapon is fired another lerp is layered on top that rotates the weapon and moves position.

It sounds complicated but essentially it's very simple and means new weapons can be added without the need for for complicated animations. Might do a shotgun in the next few days.

Really liking the description of the core gameplay loop. In particular:
Quote
The less sleep you get the poorer your performance the next day, and so the cycle continues

how exactly do you imagine that will be achieved? Will your burger flipping skills slow down? Will your aim become shaky? sounds really neat anyway : )

Thanks!

It'll effect movement speed, aiming, and possibly even dialogue options.

Guns and ragdolls nearly sort of work.

Working hard on the trailer, hoping to get it done this week so I can actually continue making the game!

In my experience it took a long while to get through Greenlight. I hope by getting a head-start I'll be Greenlit by the time I finished development. It's strange, and an experiment but I thought I'd give it a try on this project.

Ha! I didn't know that. In reality this is actually just an alternate storyline to Street Fighter. You got me.

This is a really cool idea... I'd love to see how the story branches out and I'm guessing there'll be many multiple play-throughs possible based on decisions.

Thanks! Glad you like the idea. As for multiple plays, that's the plan!
