Character Feature: Rane

Ikarane Delerain
Age: 18

Born a genius, but without a cent to her name, Ikarane Delarain caught the attention of anyone seeking to exploit her talent. After years of learning from and working for many unsavory characters, she applied for residence in Amatsu, seeking to start anew. She is reserved, and has not made any meaningful connections with the other students in her class. Ikarane suffers from a mild case of paranoia, and suspects that people always want to use her as others have done in the past.

UPDATE 21: 07/16/15

For #ThrowbackThursday  Beer! we wanted to show you concept art that led to the final!!! Along with some of the story behind it! Shrug

Featured Mecha: Seeker

The first matter of business was deciding on an overall shape to base from. We knew we wanted it to be called a Seeker, so the “eye” was going to be it’s main characterstic feature. So we started throwing shapes around, from quad to bipedal, in the end, we decided to do something less “conventional” like maybe some insect-like legs.

It was a tough call but we decided to go forward with the I version. The next step after deciding on an overall shape, was the finally design the “eye”.

A little more was designed of  the Seeker, that helped us decide: The Seeker is the most abundant form of Miasm, these are known to be the main city-wreckers. What people call an “eye” is actually a membrane able to vibrate at ultrasonic speeds, and with it’s flaps around the “eye” able to project that vibration to short distances.

Most Man-made buildings can’t handle the vibration and topple down quickly. The same for vehicles, and even some military weapons. it’s no surprise the Miasm are seen as an almost unstopable force, to handicap the seeker we limited it’s mobility with short legs.


With that little knowledge in mind, we ended up deciding on a hybrid of number 7 for the eyes to support  what we had come up with, and 6 for the stubby claw legs as a handicap.



The next round was to finalize the design before the coloring phase, things we took into consideration were the flaps, the “neck”, the back, the tail and to a small extend we also fleshed out the legs. In the end, we opted for choice number 2.

Once the design was complete, the following step was to color it. Which we decided to go for a more pale color with a purple subcolor.

Featured: Newly Updated Mecha Spear Attack and 2nd Enemy Defend

All Pre-Alpha: The first playable prototype containing representative gameplay only.  Well, hello there!

For this try on the Spear Attack animation, we were focusing on how to make the weapon typer differ from other weapons, by maximizing it's reach first and foremost, but still balancing it out on the 2nd attack by adding a long but slower frontal sweep to defend against multiple enemies.

Character Feature: Princess Zaina

Zaina Khalid 
Age: 23 

The only daughter of Sultan Alim Khalid ibn Sayyid of the Sultanate of Ahmad.

Born of Alim's third wife. Her father wanted another son to help secure his legacy, but a girl, Zaina was born instead. She was raised in exclusivity from the sons in an Egyptian settlement along with her mother, until the same took ill and perished when Zaina was in her teenage years.
She was then to be married in a diplomatic marriage, but unexpected events had her return to her father's side after all those years.

She incessantly seeks the approval and love of her father, even though he currently only has eye for her older and younger brothers. That only fuels her determination to show her worth, no matter what it takes.

UPDATE 26: 07/23/15

Featured Mecha: Sun God Ra

Princess Zaina Khalid's personal VT(Variable Trooper), The Sun God Ra, as it's popularly called.
At first glance it may seem as a purely ornamental VT, possibly used on ceremonies, and by all means, it was it's intended purpose, but Zaina had it modified and combat ready.

Even as the "Egyptian" characteristics are constant reminder of her past and her segregation, she wears it proudly, as it was a gift for her from her father once she returned. For his surprise and of her siblings, she became a very apt pilot with it in a short time, and a feared warrior.



The most distinctive features of the robot are the "tracks" on it's feet, that increases efficiency (energy consumption) on various rough terrains, not to mention the VT can duck, shrinking it's silhouette in battle while still allowing mobility thanks to the tracks.

It's standard issue and signature weapon is a plasma scimitar, that burns at such high temperatures that is rumored to "cut through metal like butter".

UPDATE 29: 07/29/15

Character Feature: Yudi

Yudi Miury 
Age: 18 

Daughter of a minor Icelandic government representative, she was sent off-planet to Amatsu Academic Centre
for her studies. There she became the president of the Chess then the Debate club.

A vocal, righteous and responsible young woman, she believes in doing the right thing, just because it's the right thing to do. With that mindset, she has decided to join the AAPP with hopes of rising through the ranks to the point where she can make a difference with her ideology.

Once in the AAPP she quickly took charge as Team captain, thanks to her personality and skill she not only had experience on how to successfully keep a group together, but also how to get them to function well in battle.

Due to her background and personality, the Commander seems to relate more to her than the other cadets.

UPDATE 30: 07/30/15

For #ThrowbackThursday  Beer! we wanted to show you the concept art that led to the final for one of our favorite mecha, a customized verein!!! Along with some of the story Shrug
What's a mech universe without a few personalized robots? Cheesy

Featured Mecha: Verein (Commander Custom)

Originally, it was the first prototype Verein made by Hexacross Chief Engineer and CEO, Natalie Axelle and Varista Enterprise's, Rey Varista. It suffered of many defects and issues, but as time passed, Natalie and the Commander fixed or found ways around most of them.

The Commander's Custom Verein's performance is incredibly greater than the Standard Production Model, but also consumes more energy and overheats periodically, so as a workaround, a hydrogen coolant tank was installed in the back, with inner connections providing the coolant to all necessary parts.

A few improvements over the Standard Production models are; an optional arm-mounted shield, four six extra thrusters for increased mobility and maneuvering, and a hover system installed on the feet, allowing it to move easily through most terrains in exchange for an increased energy consumption.

It's standard issue armament is the a two handed Plasma Blade, that not only is a melee weapon, but can double as a 6-barrelled Plasma Cannon.

So while impressive, it's energy consumption flaw requirements management and critical thinking in the midst of battle that wouldn't be found on most amateurs.

Character Feature: Natalie

Natalie Axelle 
Age: 29 

Ever since a teenager Natalie has been a genius amongst her peers, although slightly rebellious. When she hit her early twenties she realized that path wasn't for her. As soon she she cleaned up her act, Nebula Corporation snatched her before any others could.

It was the dawn of the era of VTs, her and another promising young engineer, Rey Varista were assigned to work on an intuitive operational system for the VTs, as many other corporations raced against them to finish one first and take the market. In the end, Nebula Corporation lost the race, and having spent billions into the research, went into a financial quagmire.

After the bankruptcy and dissolve of Nebula Corporation, she went her own way and started up a small research company called the Hexacross Technologies. Eventually it joined the G.A.C. as it's main engineer contractor for many projects, including the G.A.C.'s Verein.

She's a workaholic, never gets much sleep and is always trying new different (and sometimes whacky) ideas, which sometimes leads her to major breakthroughs. Currently she captains the Faraday, her own mobile research cruiser and aids the Commander on his assignment to recover the lost cargo.

UPDATE 34: 08/06/15

Featured Mecha: Altaira

With the era of Variable Troopers , came all sorts of designs and types of VT parts from all companies. The designs at first were more efficacy-oriented towards being war machines, but as time passed, more and more people sought to become pilots, a demand for aesthetics-pleasing design arose.

In this new wave of different-looking robots, came the designs for the Altaira. To most seemed like a pointless design that wasn't too compatible with other parts, but eventually some female pilots that liked the idea of being represented took a liking to it. It had a smaller frame than most other VTs, and the armor was made of a lighter alloy, it was an unburdened unit that didn't rely solely on thrusters for mobility. To sum it up, it was a very fast and energy-efficient VT that eventually grew a following.

There is no standard issue of weaponry for the Altaira, but due to it's low energy consumption, pilots opt to equip it with energy-consuming weaponry, since they are able to use it freely without worrying about the VT not producing enough energy.
