Cassus is a puzzle rpg, taking influence from traditional top-down action-adventure games, and focuses on puzzles and humour!

The puzzles revolve around manipulating the biome of each area you are in! Each "tile" has it's own biome like so;

An artifact you find atop the plateau, that is your home, allows you to change these biomes and the life and conditions within!

We hope to create open hub world gameplay, as seen in the Legend of Zelda games, where puzzles and challenges can be approached at will - giving the player the most opportunity to explore the world, find new interactions between seasons and environments, and sniff out secrets we have hidden around the gameworld.

We are working our best to bring it to PC, but we'd love to put it on lots of different platforms - iPad and tablet is a clear goal in sight, but it'll definitely take some work to get it there. We are aiming on having a demo out around October, with a release towards the end of next year!

Let us know what you think!

Looks really cool!

Is that a puzzle on the last screen? Let me guess... I should switch to rain, then to snow and cross the river, right? But what are sand and dirt bioms for?

Thanks! It is a test for a little puzzle; to demonstrate, we've got a gif. We are still working on a way to deliver high quality gifs, but here is a little slow to load one; (Link)

For water, the wetlands biome's rain causes waters to rise, the arid biome's heat dries up the water, the tundra will freeze water if water is previously present and the forest (or dirt biome) will leave the water as it was but melt ice - though, each part of the world will respond to the changes in environment differently!

You might have noticed the pyre and fountain in the pictures above - they will play a bigger role in the puzzles at large, and link the puzzle elements in creative ways.

(also we fixed the twitter link  Smiley )

Love the idea. Climate change as a game mechanic! We've got to get some good out of it, somehow.

@Christian We are currently building towards a PC release, though we want to bring this to mobile as a secondary goal - the empty space in the gui on the bottom left hand will be able to accommodate a touch screen dpad when the time comes Grin

@DizzyDoo Thanks! Hopefully we can make something a little off the beaten track with that
