Hey all!

I thought I'd make a thread for a couple of smaller but nevertheless interesting upcoming Washington, DC-area game dev events, and possibly update it when new stuff comes along. Smiley

BETACADE 001

A "playtesting convention" for people working on games at any stage of development, whether beta, alpha, or pre-alpha. There are plenty of spots available if you want to show off your game.

VGU

Upcoming video game convention in August!

Indie Arcade

From the site:

"The Indie Arcade, Coast to Coast is an annual event hosted by the Smithsonian American Art Museum and its partners. The event affords creative independent game designers and developers the opportunity to show their work at a 1-day event open to the public. In it's first year 20 independent developers showed their work to an audience of more than 4,000 . It is the biggest of event of its type in the nation's capital - Washington, DC. We are now accepting applications for inclusion in the 2016 event."

Cool. I plan on coming to Betacade. Still need to buy tickets, though. Looking forward to these!

Argh!  I'm so disappointed that I missed Betacade.  I guess I need to check the forum more often.  How else do you hear about these?  Any idea when the next one is?

@NathanielA

Not sure when the next one is. This was the first Betacade so I'm thinking they'll do another one. I checked out Bit Gen X at Artscape in Baltimore this past weekend, which was pretty rad. I found out about Betacade on Meetup.com, and Bit Gen X on Facebook.

Just starting to find out more about these kinds of events.. Maybe I'll post them here when I find anything.

VGU is coming up in October - any other notable D.C. events coming up?

Maaaan, I'm really interested in what's happening around D.C. too. Most games events are pretty terrible, but I always like going. Does anyone else living in the D.C. area know when all the cool events that everyone forgot to tell me about are happening???!!!

Word Si13 bump. I went to a Smithsonian event that was OK but kind of disappointing. D.C. is not known for its gamer community but I hope there's more going on! I missed VGU on the 3rd - 4th.

Huh, sweet. Thanks. I'm having trouble finding an indie game developer event specific to Reston on Meetup or through web search. Is that related to Nova Indie Game Developers?

Yep, the NOVA Indie Game Developers is basically the Reston one. Looking to catch you all there on Saturday if you're going.
