Press Release, A Haiku by Me

Hello there dear [Name]
this email is in haiku
so please be flattered

I should build rapport,
marketing tips dot com said,
when speaking to press

So I'll say this
I see you like cats, me too!
there, that's good enough

I have built rapport
please enjoy this copy paste
it's a press release

I am a game dev
look: (website, trailer, demo)
all my game's info.

Name: InterSection
Type: platformer puzzle game...
but it is unique:

Two 2d worlds
intersect on the player
providing challenge;

obstacles to pass
puzzles to puzzle over
worlds to explore.

Haiku limits me,
but this game is worth your time:
My friend said it's cool.

That's all for now, then;
I hope you have a nice day.
Regards, Narayan

Clarity in a press release or similar posting should be valued more than something that, while indicative of cleverness, makes it harder to read.

hmm, good point.

Personally, what do you think of sarcasm jokes/self-deprecating humor?
Like, if I wrote to someone named Bob and said

"Hello, NAME
just kidding, hello Bob"

would that just be annoying?
It's hard to tell if that kind of humor is actually funny when you're not on the receiving end

I don't think press releases should generally be so informal? The guy on the other end is someone you're trying to impress, so I'd say let your game speak for itself by images, videos, gifs.... I have no experience with this though so take my words with a grain of salt.

Also, maybe you want to use PressKit()?

Yeah, you want to avoid being informal simply because you want this information to be transmitted as cleanly as possible.

You want them to judge the work, not the presentation.  You want the press release to be invisible.

huh, interesting; I've always heard it's best to be informal since journalists want to talk to a person and not a PR group.

But thanks for the comments, I'll take your advice to heart.

You want the press release to be invisible.
woah, good point
