Hi Everyone !!!

I finally found a way to have curved roads in the game.
It was difficult for me, because I wanted a way to have curved roads without having to move the player in the 3D environment. (Not like in Gran Turismo for example)

So I did this :



The road is a mesh made in real time and I change the curvature of the mesh by changing a value.
This way I can have curved roads without having to move the car in the world.

All I had to do after that was to animate the road texture to give a feeling of movement.
The next step will be to push the player car to the side when he will be inside those curves.

And you can see the faked curves on the Editor :


What do you think ?
Are they convincing enough ?

I'm really down with the arcade vibe you are giving this game.

Any chance there will be some drifting along with the drafting? Not sure how it would work with your simplified control scheme, which I'm really into.

I used to play Cruis'n USA a lot at the arcades and on the N64 and one of the things I loved about that game was the background designs for the track. This game is in the same category so I'm curious what other levels you have planned?

Hey Everyone!

I hope your summer was nice.
Mine was a little short, I had to work on some non-games things.

I learned JS and HTML5 to make our website (available soon Smiley) and made a geolocalisation application.

But one week ago, I started to work on the game again.
It now has a name, Super Draft Racing and Antoine already made almost every assets.
He made a lot of cool things and I will show all of that here in the next days if he doesn't come here before.

On a totally unrelated note, I got Metal Gear Solid V this weekend on my Xbox 360.
I don't know how that will affect the game and my productivity, but don't worry :I promise to never play more than 24 hours per day at MGS V.

We started to think about drifting a lot and we will try to find a right way to add it to the gameplay.
Cruis'n USA was awesome !
We have three environments for the moment, a sort of city environment, a rocky desert and a palm tree / beach environment.

But we are faced with a choice, should we add more environments or should we try add more elements and identity into the already existing environments.
We still don't know Smiley

Hi everyone !

I'm sorry for not making any post here for the last 2 weeks.
We work on multiple things at Ducky Games, sometimes we work on applications and sometimes we have to do some freelance work.
I had to work on a game and an application this month and I didn't had the time to work on Super Draft Racing.

I think I will be able to work on the game again in 2 weeks or a month.
I'm actually working on a small game for Iphone.

In short, please continue to make awesome games, I will not update this Devlog in the next 2 or 4 weeks but I will continue to come here and follow what you are doing.

Good News Everyone !
We made some progress !!


Simon, a friend of mine is going to help us make this game.
These last couple of days, we tried to clarify the game design and the scope of the game.

Like good students we made a Trello and a Git repository (I know, I know, I should have done that from the beginning...  Embarrassed )



Yes our temporary name is :

Arcade Super Street Mega Draft Racing Ultimate Unlimited Director's Edition Turbo HD GOTY 2016
Do you think it's too short ?  Smiley

The road system is already working, we are going to polish it and at the same time we are going to add a good enemies generator.

We started to talk about a lot of things, a possible mission system, a drift mechanic, the possibility to have different sorts of karts with different specificities etc etc.
But before that, we will try to have a good and solid core mechanics.
