Loom Engine has been available for free for a while and will still be free for about 11 days. Grab it while you can for a 500USD value and the ability to write code in LoomScript (an alchemical concoction that takes from AS3, C#, JavaScript and Lua) to export to Mac, Windows, iOS and more to come. You also get access to the source code with the license. P.S.: The license includes free updates and access to the forums for 1 year, after which you can keep using your version of the Engine. P.P.S.: It might be me, but this really does look interesting (just like Haxe) so I think a thread going for it wouldn't be so bad (and some appreciation for poor Haxe/NME as well, while we're at it).

Is GameMaker the most successful visual game creation software? I really don't know. However, there are sixteen books about GameMaker?! Really unbelievable! http://gmc.yoyogames.com/index.php?showtopic=539399I think that GameMaker is ahead of other similar softwares in the market now.

Professional Game: Legacy of Kain: Revival There's an entire fansite for this game, so I'm sure it's professional. ^ SGDK2 Can export to Linux, Mac, Windows, Windows 8 (If you have VS Professional 2012) And can export as HTML5 So I have to say that SGDK2 is above the other competitors Plus it's free!

First Open Source Version of LiveCode was released on Apr 10, 2013: http://forums.runrev.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=14667Download: http://www.runrev.com/products/Open-Source/Community-Edition-Overview/Overview: (LiveCode has revolutionized software development - write code once and deploy to all popular platforms - mobile, desktop and server. LiveCode apps include ebooks, games, business automation, entertainment, medical, health, sports, nature, etc.) http://www.runrev.com/products/Overview/SuperBasic (SuperBasic is a BASIC programming language, which converts BASIC code directly into C++ code and then compiles it. Since the generated C++ code is native C++ code, it is possible to use any existing C++ libraries directly with SuperBasic, so there is no need for any kind of wrappers for SuperBasic.) https://sites.google.com/site/superbasic3d/WOW! Today I discover an excellent and popular indie game made in QB64.!!!!!! YoYo Compiler It is a video about GameMaker Studio 1.2. I believe that GameMaker Studio will become a professional tool for professionals in game industry. Say goodbye to interpreter.!
I don't think that "professionals in game industry" will massively adopt game maker studio, especially when it's not capable of rendering a scrolling that doesn't tear your screen to hell or if the program threatens to replace all your graphics with pirate flags because it thinks you're a pirate.

I'd just say that the fact that they're speeding GM up and adding a few features (shaders) means something only to their customers, rather than anybody else. Because, in fact, they're only speeding it up and adding a few features.

Hi, yes they do
Hello, Which version? I bought GameMaker Studio Standard and my current version is V1.1.964. If I select "use syncronization to avoid tearing" in global game setting, I cannot discover screen tearing(Windows platform). I believe that there is also no screen tearing in games exported for the other platforms now. It seems that the staff in YoYo Games can fix bugs quickly. For example, this IOS games screen tearing bug report: http://bugs.yoyogames.com/print_bug_page.php?bug_id=4354I also bought GameMaker 8.0 and screen tearing happens in games made with GameMaker 8.0.

I tested an early version of studio, but maybe they fixed it, but I really don't trust them about this , and I don't care enough to test

I mean a couple months after studio was released, I asked around if the tearing problem was fixed and a lof of people answered "oh yah, this is an old story now, the problem is completely fixed". In fact I think you danny34 were one of the people who told me that (not 100% sure) Then I took to myself to download studio and test it, and what do you know, the problem was still there (even when ticking the "synchronization" option) So i tend to distrust all the game maker evangelists that appear from time to time to spread the gospel of game maker
