NIGHTHAW-X3000. Feel the vibe of the 80s in the stylish shmup with action hotter than
girls in Miami beach and visual style prettier than from VHS which was recorded once!
Soundtrack will make you wanna put your colorfull clothes and start to looking for
disco with rollers! In the full version you will be able to buy and modify new weapons,
ships or powerups - everything will be provide by patritotic hippie for the right
amount of bucks. Various lvls, bosses and single/coop mode for more fun!

This is a good start Smiley

The art style reminds me of games like Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon, Hotline Miami or Kung Fury.

Neon games are popular, aesthetic reminds me of Heavy Bullets in the best way possible.

I like this, I like this a lot.

I'm not 100% on the menu, not sure if you are planning on changing this. It looks like it's done in a different style. The UI looks great, sharp and crisp. The text and intro menu looks very bubbly, doesn't fit with the rest of it.

Still though, I dig this, and want to see where you go with it. Cheers!

Love those arcade graphics! The colours and the theme look like the 80s, very saturated blues and magentas. The music also fits in very well.

If I were you, i would add particles and screen shakes and effects everywhere. They make the game look a hundred times juicier (it's not me who says it, its Martin Jonasson aka Grapefrukt in this video).

Keep working on it!

PD: Which engine are you using?

Woah, thank you for your replies! Yeah, art style is in 80s vibe. Menu is just placeholder, it will be changed. I'm using Game Maker: Studio. In my earlier projects I was working with GM8.1 but Studio have more possibilities.

I already saw a GIF in the GIF thread here and liked it very much Smiley
I actually don't think that the music fits very well. I think it should be more energetic to get you pumped for the action. The 80's vibe is ok, but i think it fits more slow-paced scenes, like driving around in your car through the night. (Drive was a cool movie..)

Yeah, I think the same way about music. It's gonna be more faster and more dynamic, but right now I'm using what I got. :D
And I really like Drive movie.

Just so you know, the link is broken. I know it's easy to fix, but surprised nobody mentioned it

That is hot. I want this on my Vita or TV console.

I dont like the feel of the pink wave shot though. It moves a little too wonky, maybe less easing on the x-velocity change might make it feel nicer.

Only other criticism I would have is the game space is too wide. It might be ok if you could focus it more towards the center or at least not have that situation where you have a powerup or enemy on the opposite side of the screen and it's essentially impossible to make it there in time. You seem to somewhat address it with the barrier bars.

Either way that's hot hot hot. I'm really liking this.  Beer!

Hello!
So it's a big day for me because my second game is on Steam Greenlight! You can help me with your votes if you want to. I would be grateful.

This is too 80s for me. I can't handle it. The only way I know how to cope with this is to wear sunshades and drive along the coastline in a convertible.
