In terms of visuals, sound and style, a lot.

Fact is that one of the very earliest design ideas behind the title, and this is many years old, was something more on-rails similar to Killer7's control system.

In general I am a big fan of GHM's games, so there may be some influence from Flower, Sun and Rain and Killer is Dead as well.

Been a while since I've posted an update.

First, here's a new gif:

Second, I've been doing a lot of work on the game, the lack of updates does not betray a lack of development or anything. The visual style is being refined and the combat fleshed out (with more animations, charged attacks, roll-stab attack). I've been working a lot of designing the parts of the city and adding props, foliage, statues, etc. I've also been adding sound effects and music.

The next big milestone is preparing the demo for GamesCom in Cologne (16-19 August), where I will be demonstrating The Godbeast in the business area, at the Belgian Indie Games booth.

Haven't posted in ages (sorry). Here's some newer screenshots:

Even these already date back from October.

The game is still well in development, having now met the milestone of being fully playable from start to finish, intro to ending cutscene. I'm adding in more detail, sound and music, and testing to improve playability. Release is foreseen within the next 6 months, depending on play-testing feedback.

If the game is in a fully playable state then you should release a demo.

This is exciting to hear! I loved Killer7.

There's so much intriguing stuff happening in these GIFs. I'm eager to see more.  Good luck with the project!

I'm doing some closed testing with a select amount of people right now, to iron out the main issues and bugs. Then I'll think of doing a more public round of testing/demo/early access?

Hey, wow, totally forgot I had a thread here...

The Godbeast is actually very close to release now. Coming up in a few weeks normally. You can find the Steam store page, info, trailer and screenshots here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/736470/The_Godbeast/

Development honestly took a lot longer than I had hoped. It's been about 4 years since Malebolgia, and I had hoped not to spend that much time on this project. That said, I am already planning and have done work on the next project(s), so it hasn't been 100% only on The Godbeast.

Here's some gifs:
