This looks great man. There's a lot of clarity on what's happening despite the low colour palette, great design!
It has been said a lot on this board but I'll say it again, those menus are amazing (and I imagine that they are a pain to do XD).
By the way I agree on the single player mode stuff. Maybe you could add a vs IA mode with simple bots, although the IA would most likely be tough to do even if you aim for a simple one.

Thanks for the complements! I'm glad you enjoy the art style.

Quote from: Polygon review of Samurai Gunn
The game is at its best with four samurai, and as the player count diminishes, so does the enjoyment. Single-player is strictly a series of bot matches and won't keep you occupied for very long at all.

Quote from: IGN review of Super Smash Bros.
I have to admit that I spent most of the time playing the multiplayer modes. It's not that the one-player mode is bad -- HAL tried to add a bit of variety by offering bonus stages and team fights, but the order of your opponents never changes and you'll find yourself playing just to get the hidden stuff. But plug in a few more controllers and the game comes to life.

Quote from: GamesRadar review of TowerFall Ascension
TowerFall does come with two additional single-player modes that are great on their own, but they only serve to give players a sampling of how much fun they could be having if they had others to play with.

Quote from: Techinasia review of Ultra Street Fighter IV
if you don’t plan on playing with other people, there is precious little to keep you occupied here.

I consider single player modes in fighting games unnecessary gubbin and I will not be adding one.

Capture the flag mode is done. I'm pretty sure this will be my favorite, I even had a bit of fun playing against myself.

What's left to do:
King of the hill SFX
Capture the flag SFX
Make stage 3
Stage 3 music
Stage 4 music
Credits screen
Results screen

Getting close to finishing Hand Shake Left WTF Hand Shake Right

Wow!

This is looking really good.  I hope you don't mind a few questions...

1) What engine are you using?
2) What resolution is the game going to run at?
3) What are the pixel sizes of the sprites/tiles?

Again, good work, I can't wait to play it.

1) Gamemaker studio

2) The game is in 240x160, but it will scale to whatever resolution your monitor is

3) 10x10

Thanks for the quick response.

It spawned another question though...  Why the 1.5 aspect ratio, are you targeting mobile?

Well I wanted to stick to gameboy restrictions, but the original gameboys screen resolution is 160x144, which is too small for my liking.
So I switched to the gameboy advance resolution, which is 240x160.
Fun fact, the intro screen transitions from a gameboy screen to the actual game resolution.

EDIT:

Also, there will be no mobile.
This game would not play well on a touch screen.

This. Looks. So. Cool.

Was this game born in the GBJAM or you're just a nostalgic kind of guy ?

Also, I have to disagree about the single-player mode thing, just look at Jump Ultimate Stars. It's freakin' doable !

Still looks absolutely great ! Can't wait to see more !!

Can't help but feel that this specific stage will be terrible in practice. The faster player will always win back a point because he'll be closer to the flag spawning point and the slower player will have no way of catching him.

Never fear, the goals are set up so you always have to try and get past the other player before you score a point, like in soccer.
There will be places when a faster player gets the flag first, but there's still an opportunity for the other player to bop them and take the flag.

Sorry I haven't updated in forever.
This game will be finished for sure, it will be 1.99 on itch.io, and if I can get enough money, I might put it on steam.
I'm mainly waiting for my brother to finish the music, he has a busy schedule and hasn't had any time for hobby stuff.
After that, I'll make stage three and wrap the whole thing up.

The hesitant release date is Christmas because why not.

Stage 3 was feeling really boring, so I added some stuff.
Also, I've added gamepad rumble.
