Hey guys,

Just wanted to point out that Green Label Gaming (the subtle bit of Mountain Dew!) are teaming with us (GDC folks) to give away TWENTY all-access GDC 2009 passes in a competition to help deserving developers with fun ideas come to GDC.

(They're also adding $10,000 to the Seumas McNally Grand Prize for IGF this year, making that prize $30k, and they're not even going to get up on stage and make a fuss about it, which is nice of them.)

Anyhow, because of the short notice (and the fact we already have IGF for actual games!), it's a 'write your thoughts' competition rather than a 'make a game' competition, about imagining games in 2020 (they will probably have more Goatse in them).

But I know a lot of TIGSource folks are pretty perceptive, so you'll probably have a decent chance at winning if you enter something erudite, given there are 20 prizes.

Here's the info:

http://www.gamesetwatch.com/2009/02/competition_imagine_the_games.php

Deadline is next Wednesday (4th) or so, winners will be notified in 24 hours.

See you at GDC,
Simon@IGF.

That's pretty bad ass.

I was wondering if they'd want to rename the Seamus McNally award like... the Super Extreme Mountain Dew Seamus McNally Grand Prize.

But they didn't. Respect.  Gentleman

I've heard they're making Mountain Dev Drink, the official drink for Indie developers. It will feature a tiger in tophat and monocle.

I drank a whole hell of a lot of Tiger beer when I was unicycling across Vietnam.

And on topic--this is a sweet opportunity for passes!

There will be a Gamasutra feature showcasing the winners. We won't 'own' any of the ideas, in case anyone is worried about that, heh.

Nice Smiley

I wasn't worried, was just curious what the audience was, and also if I'd get to see the winners!

HOOOORRRAYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would like to take this opportunity to brag that I won an all-access pass by predicting the future.  Tears of Joy

I did sorta cheat a little bit, though. Well, not really. For my game of the future idea, I took my work-in-progress robot programming game and simply futurized it.

I'd love to enter this, but even if I won I couldn't go Sad

Do you think this competition might run next year as well?
