So I have started a dev log http://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?topic=50129.0 I am unsure on what to call my game, My work in progress name is "The Grey" though as pointed out the name is used for a film and a fairly recent film at that(Still need to watch it). So I am asking the community for help, I have put much thought into coming up with a name for the past few days but just come back to "The Grey" since it fits really well. To give you guys some insight into what my game will include, the whole game is a winter survival game though its not nature you will be fighting to survive. you have been exiled to what is oblivion for the crime of murder, though oblivion is not enough for some... military robots have been sent to finish you off, you goal is to survive as long as possible until your inevitable fate. I hope the above helps, if anyone would like to make suggestions please do.

How about "Grey: The video game"?
In all seriousness, like IonForce said, we'd need some more info before we could get a name. Maybe some screenshots?

Couple of ideas, playing on the theme of winter, exile and murder (to different extents) - Cold-Blooded
- In Cold Blood
- Permafrost
- Hypothermia
The first two lead more towards the murderous side, the second more to do with the survival and environmental sides. I've not researched what exits, but I quite like Permafrost. Oh, go on then, one more: Winter Murderland

I am currently a fan of single word pretentious names, so I would call it "Winter"

If you want people to be able to find your game easily, and your games success is important to you. Then whatever you decide, it's good to keep in mind two things:
1) The name is unique. If you name your game "Dark Cloud" or something generic like that, you're going to have a hard time showing up in search results. I might might even come up with a new word that doesn't really exist to ensure front page results on Google.
2) The first letter is high up in the Alphabet. When you think about Steam and other store fronts, when you search for a game genre, they will list results in alphabetical order usually. You want yours to be at the top of the list. Having your game start with an "A" will help that.
That being said, Maybe something like Bionic Winter? Names are hard. lol

How about " Eigengrau"? It's a German word so no one will pronounce it correctly and it might be a tad pretentious, but I think it'd be original if nothing else and it will most likely be easy to search for, competition-wise.

To choose a name, you should think about story or core mechanics. The name that you choose should store all the essence of the game.

My team and I have been developing a game for the past two school semesters and we JUST decided on a name very recently. I think a big tip I could share that we learned would be to not force it. You may even surprise yourself with what you come up with when you least expect it.
