We are pleased to announce your search for the next big video game is over.

Yup. We did it America. High-fives all around. Finally your tax dollars have been put to good use as millions were invested into R&D to create the ultimate game experience. No longer will you spend your precious hours at night looking for a game!

We've created everything you could ever want into one awesome package. You're welcome.

Introducing the best game that has ever been announced: The Colony.

"What is The Colony", you say?

To that I respond, "Whaaaaa? You've heard of Star Wars but not heard of The Colony?!"

Well, just because you asked nicely and we've known each other for some time, I'll forgive this slight to our friendship and tell you what it is.

The Colony is a new game coming to the computer near you. You play the role of an ant trying to make a name for himself (or herself?) against insurmountable odds. Spiders, Ant Lions, and other ants stand in your way as you strive to build the biggest, baddest colony in the land.

The Colony focuses on exploration, cooperation, and the never-ending quest to become the greatest colony in the land! Craft and equip yourself with an assortment of weapons fit for an all out assault on your senses!

Can you imagine the child support costs!

Team up with your ant allies, build and expand your base, and prove once-and-for-all that the strength of your body is matched only by the strength of your resolve.
TL;DR: Watch this youtube video.

Phew. Glad we got passed that. I really questioned whether or not we could still be friends but now there is no doubt in my mind. +1 Coolness Achieved.

Hey thanks! I was checking out your Twitch stream, how's that working out for you? Do you find that it generates much traffic?

...Honestly I have not streamed in a long time, mostly because I don't have that great of a computer. I might start getting more serious in the summer, when I start working and find myself needing a proper desktop.

This really brings me back to the days I used to spend playing SIM Ant! Really cool concept. The video looks amazing! Have you considered VR?

Why yes, yes we are! We've been developing it for VR from the start, in fact!

I chat a little bit about it in

(Disclaimer: I had a little bit too much caffeine while making this video)

Thanks for your interest. (Really like the music on your signature page btw!)

Ahhh I definitely got the feeling you had that in mind  Gentleman I must've missed it in the video though!

The VR really makes me love this project even more! Right when I saw this game I had an interest in it because of the interesting ramifications that being a bug has on the sound design. Blades of grass moving that would sound thunderous, birds flapping their wings that sound like a hurricane, etc. But now all of that is on a whole new level with the 3D audio capabilities for VR. It's a really amazing thing when you get that right, and I'm really interested in hearing if you've had any thoughts on the 3D audio, implementation of ambient and background sounds, or anything of that sort.

And thanks for checking out my music! Great to hear you like it  Smiley

Yeah man, I spent the night coding listening to your compositions. Pretty amazing! Toromiro is my favorite.  Hand Clap

One of the hardest parts so far with this game has been the sense of scale. Everything is very, very large. We've had to pretty much model everything ourselves because existing models (like grass) look pretty bad when scaled 100 times their size.

Currently there's just an ambient nature track playing the background, but I can see what you're saying. It leaves lot to be desired! Raindrops, for example, are large, loud, and explosive!

For those who are interested, should have a new devlog video coming out this week. This time I'll be reviewing the player model workflow, answering any questions, and previewing the next devlog! Stay tuned.
