I'm old enough to remember that Aladdin level, so no, it's not.
It just looks very similar (I don't mean that in a bad way) - look around the 3 min mark in the Time Surfer video.

Now that we have the car customisation system, we can experiment with alternates for the wheel slots. Matrix style hover pads, or just rocket boosters. All influencing handling of course:
