Now hold on, this looks good too. Nice colors. The sky fades out a bit quickly, and the cityscape in the background should probably be more sky colored, and less dark to make it stand out from the background and tiles. Overall, though, this is interesting so far. Keep it up!

I dont know if I can handle all the animation, besides it probably requires more complex gameplay.
Originally i wanted to create Shadow Dancer/Shinobi esque game but then realised that this game may be too complex.
Arcade machines and genesis could handle giant sprites and that meant that gameplay was built upon crouching under projectiles. The thing is crouchichg and tuning projectile height can be a hassle, not to mention that it requires better level design, so i stopped on simpler nes-style run n shhot game.

i like the buttons you bounce off of to change the platform orientation.

have you seen this obscure cowboy themed gundam game? it seems similar thematically to what you're going for. it opens with a wild guns rip off but is mostly a platformer with some fun gimmicks:
