At the begining of July, there was a smaller event for indie game developers in Vienna called
ReVersed Festival. The booth fee was $0 (matching my current funding budget), so I was super excited to get selected. I have prepared a 30 minute demo showcasing all the basic features of the game. Huge thanks to a handful of my friends who volunteered to playtest it.
Here are my handout cards (double-sided) and a Booth-in-a-backpack!
It was supposed to be the very first public showcase of SPACR and my first time having a booth at an event, so it was a big deal for me, both stressful and exciting.
I was hoping to get some feedback and maybe get some new followers. I have packed up my development laptop and a cardboard box to be used as a stand and off we went! My gamedev friend
@pwMoti agreed to come with me and man the booth, and later my wife
@Lusi_cz dropped by.

The event lasted 4 days, took place in a place called MuseumsQuartier and the weather in Vienna could not have been better (we had some time to go sightseeing a bit)! Even though it was open to the public, most of the people playing the game were other developers. But that was cool, because we were able to get a lot of focused, professional feedback and meet some new amazing gamedev friends!
Around 10 people played the demo every day, which doesn't seem like much. But usually after 10 minutes playing, all of them got hooked and finished the whole 30 minute demo, totaling around 5 hours played daily. The competition was pretty steep and we were surrounded by beautiful and well polished games, so I was very grateful to everyone giving us their time, playing SPACR.
The famous food market Naschmarkt was just a few blocks away from the venue, perfect for a quick breakfast:
Evening at Vienna's MuseumsQuartier:
I have received a very positive response on both the gameplay and the story, lots of thumbs up for the next phase of development.
So that was my first experience with having a boot on an event. Awesome!
