I always run into great video game sites, and it's a pain to keep track of them all, even with bookmarks.  That's why I'm starting this thread, y'allz.  Let's share!  (By the way, the "unheard-of" part is just to keep people from posting Gamespot or something.)

I'm really big on screenshots.  CLEAR ones.  And I like well-made tribute sites to niche games or retro games.  Good, clean web design also gets me.

Hardcore Gaming 101 - Definitely one of my favorite game sites.  Updated somewhat frequently with huge, comprehensive articles.  Lots of screenshots, too.

The Chaos Regime (aka Gods Country) - I love the Bitmap Brothers!  Preeminent pixel artists, classic games... Chaos Engine, Speedball, Gods, etc.  And bonus points for having their game covers painted by Simon Bisley.  This site is beautifully designed.  You have to see their Gods fansite to believe it.  WOW.

A Personal History of Computer Games - By Justin Hall, aka that dude that video taped himself crying.  Now studies games at USC and seems much happier overall (good for him!).  A really fun page about the computer games he liked.

Alone in the Past - French site.  Can't read.  Enjoy the screenshots and the games.

Postback - Another site I can't read (Spanish), but I enjoy the big, beefy screenshots.

Apple IIGS Gaming Fairway - Cute site about Apple II games.

There are more, but I can't remember / find them right now!  Share your own!

Here's my secret stash:
  • RVG fanatic Some guy collects all super famicom cartridges and decide to make a personal review for each one of them. Also saturn games. Yeah it's A-Awesome
  • Thalion webshrine dedicated to Thalion's pretty games for thev Amiga
  • http://devimg.net/
Devellopers submit pics of their oncoming games. Good to kill time.
  • Kloonigames "Monthly experimental games"
Judging by the name it must be about retro games or something. Difficult to tell more by just browsing this mess of a site. Seems interesting.

Following is a list of specialised fansites each dedicated to a particular console or computer, I like to just browse the databases and watch the pretty nostalgic pictures:

www.abandonia.com

Website specialized in abandonware games. Basically very, very old games that are no longer sold or supported by the original companies. Tons of DOS games and lots of classics for download. You can also download the DOSBox and VDMSound programs to help run those extremely old games, as well as others. Very good site for retro fans.

Cool sites, guys.  I'm enjoying them immensely.

http://ffclassic.net - Probably one of the most comprehensive fansites for any retro game out there.  Nice design, too!

More on the design than the retro-nostalgia end of things but I am a big fan of this guy's essays:

This isn't really a "video game site" per se, but it's endlessly entertaining to browse through this wiki of videogame tropes.

Wish I could read this: http://www.sara.to/sigure/game.html

"Legendly Games"... it's got some screenshots/text for obscure games, including the two Phillips CD-i Zelda games. Tongue
