Hi everyone, I've taken a short break from working on my (long term) game Solotra.B. But in the mean time I've started work on a smaller scale game. It's a space themed survival game, similar to Organ Trail/ Oregon Trail. I've been able to utilise the skills that I have developed from working on Solotra.B and produced the framework for "Space". Here are some screenshots. I have set aside the next 3 months to work on this and then (pending completion) will get back to Solotra.B. Here are some screenshots of what I have done so far:

I am nearing a Beta release for Star Trail. Here is a short development progress video marking the current process of the game. I still have a few rough edges to work out and things that need to be added & refined but I am close to releasing a fully playable test version of the game.

Some more screenshots. I'm almost ready to put out a demo. These screens are of in-ship battles (when boarded by enemy forces), work on 'defending relay station/objective' scenarios, the second level of ship interior/pod launching screen, in game entertainment (commandore 32), radio scanning channel and split-screen space scavenging mode. Slowly the list of things-to-do is getting smaller and the games is coming together quite well. Must stop with feature creep for now though....

I am going to try and post more regular updates which which more accurately log the progress of Star Trail. Currently I would estimate and say that I am fairly close to a playable demo/test release. There are a few more elements to fix and some bugs to remove.

The following is a list of the first few sequence of the game and what I need to fix:

Crew select screen - complete with character description and gamepad controls (D-pad to scroll).
                            Just need to put into the game the different effects that the characters will
                            have on the game.

Crew naming screen - Have to limit string input for player 2-4

Supply Screen - Need to figure out you much you can begin with

Map Screen - works fine but need to fix scaling for different resolutions

Travel Screen - Add controls display, fix triangle for warp, fix events box size for different events.
                     - One problem that I will have is that when a player dies, their name can no longer be     
                       called by the random process. This is okay for 1/2 players dead but if three players are 
                       dead, events that feature two players will have to be replaced with something...
                       eg. RICK had a argument with (DEAD PERSON)... not going to look good (maybe for a laugh in
                            some situations). I thought about space madness or having the ships computer name
                           replace the dead character.

For Scenarios - - I have to fix the AI for some of the scenes, they still aren't really behaving like
                          a person might...

As well as developing a lot more text scenarios, I have to work on the formatting/spacing & grammar of each event as well as getting the box to resize appropriately. As you can see it doesn't look very professional at the moment. That's the next job!

If anyone would like me to add any particular scenarios (references to things in sci-fi culture for example) or has any ideas about cool events, I am more than happy to add them in. I am forever coming up with my own, but the more the merrier!

I've fixed the events text box. It now resizes based on text length and the spacing is better. Time to add more scenarios!
