Stencyl is one of the best open source engines to learn how to create games. It is the most organized and productive engine of all. It does not require knowledge of a programming language. It only requires programming logic. But it is also possible to use code. It is written in Haxe which is a cross-platform language like C ++, C # and Action Script. With Haxe and Openfl libraries it can create extensions to enlarge the possibilities of Stencyl.

In the free version of Stencyl it can export to Flash and Html5 formats.
The Indie version can be exported to Flash, Html5, PC, Mac and Linux.
And in the Enterprise version can be exported to Flash, Html5, PC, Mac, Linux, Windows, iPhone and Android.

Stencyl uses the same code to export into native code for all these platforms. Performance is about 10x better than a game html5 done in the Construct, for example, that runs in the browser of a smartphone and not as a native application.

Stencyl is the best option for those who do not want to be just programmer. And do not take all afternoon just to make a character walk on the screen.

Know programming is something that makes all the difference. And use the best codes developed by various developers and tested by many users do more. Opensorce is the game!

This video of about 20 minutes shows the development in this engine.
