Hello! A friend and I are currently working on a story-driven game for Floating Rock Games (our game studio, consisting of currently just us two) and we need a few helping hands to see it through to completion. We've been contemplating for a long time on what our game should be, going through various different ideas, when we finally decided, "lets just try and give it our all and put our efforts toward making something really big and astounding"! Granted, with that said, I myself have no experience when it comes to designing and making games. I'd like to think I have the mind for it, but its yet to be "tested" so to speak.

David (my friend who is working with me on this game) is a talented programmer with prior experience in game development, though he has never attempted something of such large scale before. Naturally, despite our level of experience, we are quite aware of the tremendous work required for this project. We simply want to try our hand at a "great idea" and see where it goes.

Of course I suppose I should start talking about the game we are working on itself - we are attempting to deliver a story-driven game that focuses on decision making and drama. If anyone is familiar with Telltale and their popular games, this is essentially what we want to achieve. However, we want to IMPROVE on this type of game. Eliminating the frustrating and pointless "mechanic" known as quicktime events and replacing them with something meaningful and thought-provoking. (will explain this more should you decide to join) In addition, we want each and every choice the player can make to be meaningful and have an impact on the game. These are things that we are striving to implement in our ambitious title.

As of right now, we are looking for 2 artists (this is a 3D game should you not have realized yet) who can also animate and 1 programmer. We were thinking of going with a "more serious anime style", to see what it would look like at first, but should it not fit we can swap to a more "realistic" style. As for the programmer, we'd prefer someone at least experienced enough to know how to make a game of this type. My role is creating the entire story, characters, plot, the world as well as what actually happens in the game, the choices, etc. David is a programmer as mentioned previously. Currently we have the basic premise and story thus far, but I'm still in the progress of plotting everything out and have some ways to go, but everyone can still work on things in the meantime, since that stuff will surely take quite a while as well. Myself, I work 2 jobs currently just to make ends meet, so I dont have alot of time to actually do things (hence the slowness) but I do have the weekends. As a result theres no "strict deadlines" and everyone can work at the pace they desire. But yes, I realize we are very determined to make this game and get it out despite the fact that I have no time for it - I realize this is contradictory but its all the time I can spare at the moment...

Much like Telltale, we plan to make the game episodic. What we were thinking of doing was putting our all into this one semi-short episode and giving it alot of polish - focusing on the significance of choices and the mechanics and attempt to make the player care. Then if the released game is actually successful, we'll continue to make more in the series. As for pay, considering the lax work environment its obvious to say that you wont be paid WHILE working, but you WILL get a share of the profits when the game is sold. How were going to sell it has not yet been determined, but we were thinking of perhaps using steam greenlight.

On a side note, while we each will have our own roles to play, we still accept opinions and feedback that you have. We are a team after all.

If you are interested in our game and what we plan to achieve, please send an email to [email protected], thank you for your time.
