You can adjust the speed without adding frames.

I know, adding frames would just look cooler and solve the problem. Compared to the other characters frame count is lower.

Flapping doesn't really work with more frames.

My advise is that there should be many more frames in that flapping.

Twisting of scythe is great though.

No. Flapping looks bad with lots of frames. It shouldn't look smooth.

Why not? Smooth looks so much more badass in my opinion. Also shouldn't the hand be turning inward? Unless that's just me.

Yeah, I'm also an advocate for smooth. Also I think the flapping should be more subtle.

Okay, I'll just add the twisting to that.

I don't like the twisting, to be honest.

Cabadath is brutally efficient, and avoids unnecessary motions. I like the idea of a nearly static idle sprite (like Guy from Street Fighter).

Also, if Cabadath were to twist his weapon, it would be a more natural movement to twist it inwards.

Yes but the twisting would keep his scythe arm from growing stiff or falling asleep or even just being unprepared.

Wow, holy crap. By the time I come back, he looks about a thousand times more epic.

...And he's already himself, you know.

Seriously, though. Those sprites look amazing. Anyway, I...actually tried to edit them a bit, at least for accuracy.

It turned out...all right, I guess, but not as good as the one already there. Mainly because the one already there is freaking awesome, animated , and freaking awesome. Thusly, at least, you should use this reference to maybe fix a few things:

Definitely the best reference out there. It's the pixel art from the credits of Trilby's Notes, the biggest Tall Man picture Yahtzee ever put in his games.

I keep seeing buttons on coats, but he only really has those four, and they aren't the shiny kind and such. The top of the coat isn't so much a collar (Not sure what to call it in clothing terms), but a suit.

...

Just something to keep in mind, I guess. Just a few accuracy edits, and he'll be perfect.

As to the twisting, it may not fit his character, or what have you, but the animation is beautiful.  Kiss

I love the scythe-turn. As for Nightshade's concern, I think its absence will usually lead people to think we were going for bare-minimum animation, instead of as a reflection of Cabadath's character.

Poppant's new rendition does look a bit more balanced. I've yet to see it animated as awesomely, though.

Poppants- My only issue with yours is that with the scarf that small it just looks like ruffles. I know technically thats the length of it but to make it look good in this style you often have to skew the proportions.
