A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Notes

Contest is simple: find a painting or picture that inspires you and write a song about it. Post the picture and your track along with any explanation you feel is important. The picture can be anything you want (even from another game, film, etc); if you’re inspired by a Zelda painting, have at it big dog.

Rules:
Generally speaking this is a no bad ideas contest, with one exception: your piece should match the tone of your chosen painting or picture. Example: if you choose Van Gogh’s Starry Night, a chip-tune battle theme is not your best bet. If you want to do an 8 bit style track, there is plenty of great pixel art around (especially here on TIGSource). Try and find patterns between your musical choices and the artistic choices of the painting or better yet, let it dictate what your musical choices are.

  • Track should be ≥ 1 min please
  • If there are enough entries, I'll pick 3 and then we'll vote
  • Feedback will be given for each entry
  • Your piece must be unique to this contest (no recycling)

Deadline: Waaagh! February 15th, 2015

Also, have fun, you nut.

I decided to pick this as an image, I found it on Deviantart and I thought it looked quite dramatic, but yeah, I really enjoyed this one! Smiley

Hi again guys!

Such a weird coincidence, I saw this picture and thought that it would be fun to make a piece inspired by that. And later that day I saw this thread here and thought, perfect! Two birds with one stone.

So here's my entree. Note that I imagined it being russia or similar countries, hence the russian folk music.

This is my submission:

My father likes to paint water-colours so I decided to do music for one of his paintings. This is simply a wave in Cadiz (Spain) :D

Happy Valentine's Day!  Kiss

Some good stuff in here everybody, excited with the entries. Tomorrow is the deadline for submissions; so if you haven't started yet and you want to, you can spend your Valentine's day with your other other significant other, a.k.a. music.

It's past the 14th my time but the forum post here on my end will still shows it isn't the 15th just yet.  I'm a a little under a year over the deadline of 2015! heheh Wink so you can decide to exclude this entry but I wanted to share it anyway Smiley

I didn't get the image url since I just got Windows 10 and don't know how all to use it yet Tongue

The challenge inspired me to make track of a return to a now abandoned place with a significant other.  I kind of imagined playfulness and exploration.  I dreamed of this while writing and imagined the scene further; just beyond the forest were some roads leading to an also abandoned town and a big race event was planning to be held there so a bunch of people were heading in to clean and prep the roads to make a track gearing up for some fun Smiley

Hahah first time posting in this forum! This was fun to do, I tried to do something a little more atmospheric, it is not something I usually do. I've been meaning to do something with this picture for a while now. Hope you guys enjoy it!
