Hi everyone, I'm Jeremy Hogan, designer at The Secret Games Company. We just announced a March release for Kim on its Steam coming soon page (it'll begin in Early Access). I wanted to start a thread here where I can share info and anyone, who has questions, can ask them.

Kim is a top-down, 2D, open world RPG set in the India of Rudyard Kipling's (Nobel prize winning) writing. You play as the hero of his novel, Kim, a street urchin with the gift of the gab and a little luck on his side. You must survive (eat, sleep, etc) and explore the many procedural levels of countryside and 17 hand-drawn (and historically accurate) towns. Branching conversations using Kipling's own dialogue let you meet his characters, unlock quests and develop Kim's stats. Combat and stealth can keep you well-fed or land you in jail. It's non-linear, what you do is up to you and when Kim comes of age at 18 (the end of the book), your time is up and you get a score based on many factors to determine how well you have managed to live Kim's youth, then of course we recommend you try again Smiley

More info coming soon, in the meantime, check out our trailer and gameplay video on our Kickstarter page (link above).

Wait there's more! We wanted to include photos of colonial India to show what it was really like. We worked with the team at the British Library to source 40+ images from the India Records Office archives, which show places in the game. These are displayed on info panels when the player arrives at a location for the first time. They are accompanied by excerpts from Victorian travel guides to give a period description to match the picture. Here's a few below but check out a whole album of our favourites here:

And of course, do support our Kickstarter if you like what you see!
