Ahh please find a way to work with matwek! Freedom Planet and Poncho are beautiful games. I'd love to see matwek's sega genesis vibes applied to your puzzle mechanics!

They already found someone. Or is Matwek and Brit(t?) the same person?

Ah well, I'm sure it'll still look rad either way! The proposed new art style was perhaps a tad cutesy for my personal tastes, but still very decent.

Hey. Thanks for the praise. Glad you liked them. Back on topic though. Have you considered rotating the background the opposite direction to the level layouts in some instances. Might create a weird surreal effect for unique areas of the game. Also, how about just rotating the individual background assets rather than the whole background at once?

Thanks folks! I keep hearing stuff on that flip... What about it seems to be the issue? It's missing some kind of transition frame you think?

Thanks folks! I keep hearing stuff on that flip... What about it seems to be the issue? It's missing some kind of transition frame you think? Either add a properly animated turn, or do away with it entirely and just immediately switch directions. The flip makes it look very two-dimensional, like a piece of paper, and takes away from the art.

A single front image makes a big difference to switching directions without a mid-frame. (Even if it's bad, it will be noticed.) So, yes, your artist should create a proper transition frame/front image.

Now it looks like Fez again. But eh, how unique can a side-view pixelart room be? I guess that's the thing, tho. All houses in Fez are just one room. Maybe make some with more rooms. Could be inspired by silver star drill puzzle in Super Mario Galaxy 2, which is kind of like that... 6:24 in this video (didn't watch it so I don't know if the person playing is annoying): https://youtu.be/KusHYaf8EGo?t=6m24s

Oh I never saw that Mario level! It's definitely going to play a little bit like that. I am still not sure if they are going to be just one room though, I told Britt to make it like that because it was easy to reference. I know I want to use areas like this for more than just hiding one collectible in there. Every area right now has it's own puzzle rules and mechanics, if that makes any sense. Anywho, multiple rooms seem like the way to go. Especially since I don't have many houses ingame

Hey nice! I didn't really have any issues with the Fez-likeness you had going on, but I'll agree that the new art style will be better for you overall, I think. And it's great! Following

I don't see so much of a similarity to fez, the character here feels much heavier and more cartoonish.

It looks good. I've been reading your problem with the whole FEZ thing... Maybe changing the game's name is a good start? By the way, the new art is not related with FEZ's world anymore (maybe the interior room a little). Of course, your character is completely different to Gomez, on movement heaviness and general attitude (yours is more cute, and kinda "soft").

Thanks for the feedback! We sure need a new name... I am completely blank though. Any ideas? The stupider it sounds the better lol
