About
Slash through the armies of mechanical fiends to free your clan and discover what's happened during your rather long hibernation. Gather the skills of your captured clansmen to become the legendary ninja resurrected from your ancient memory.
Mixes hints of Metroid, Castlevania, Ninja Gaiden, Megaman and probably a number of other things too.

Built in construct 2, follows NES limitations, but not religiously.

Gameplay
-Implemented-
NES style controls with two buttons.
Sub weapons - throwing stars, explosive kunai, rising fire, lightning strike
Health/Skill point upgrades
20 or so Enemy types.

Status:
Five levels done. 10 Bosses. 5 Special skills.

Platform:
PC/MAC on Steam

Working on:
Level 6: Robot factory

Team
Me - @MekaSkull Ninja
Musician - @Pentadrangle Ninja

Hey, looks cool Smiley
I hope you take care of good level design too, because i think a lot of retro action platformers have actually bad level design by today's standards. (Too hectic, not predictable etc..)  Who, Me?

@Bahototh - Awesome, thanks. I look forward to getting it done too  Ninja

Blasphemy!
I know! I will do my best to keep it kinda realistic though. It's going to be widescreen and my parallax backgrounds would need to be a bit different on a real NES.

retro level design
I'm learning as I go, it's challenging. Plenty of testing will be required.  Hand Joystick

Speaking of learning, since run cycles are hard, I recorded myself on a treadmill for reference Big Laff
Here's the ref and final product:

you gotta run like a real Ninja, with your arms hanging back or with your hand on the sword:

Admittedly that was probably done to save on sprite space, so you know, what ever.

Thanks everyone.

You're absolutely right DanHibiki. I could adjust the run for more  Ninja-ness
I've studied some bo-staff moves recently, so I'll hope to incorporate that into some future enemy Cool

A small update with a floor spinner enemy. I know everyone loves these kind of guys in megaman Big Laff
