Hey, looks cool Smiley
I hope you take care of good level design too, because i think a lot of retro action platformers have actually bad level design by today's standards. (Too hectic, not predictable etc..)  Who, Me?

@Bahototh - Awesome, thanks. I look forward to getting it done too  Ninja

Blasphemy!
I know! I will do my best to keep it kinda realistic though. It's going to be widescreen and my parallax backgrounds would need to be a bit different on a real NES.

retro level design
I'm learning as I go, it's challenging. Plenty of testing will be required.  Hand Joystick

Speaking of learning, since run cycles are hard, I recorded myself on a treadmill for reference Big Laff
Here's the ref and final product:

you gotta run like a real Ninja, with your arms hanging back or with your hand on the sword:

Admittedly that was probably done to save on sprite space, so you know, what ever.

Thanks everyone.

You're absolutely right DanHibiki. I could adjust the run for more  Ninja-ness
I've studied some bo-staff moves recently, so I'll hope to incorporate that into some future enemy Cool

A small update with a floor spinner enemy. I know everyone loves these kind of guys in megaman Big Laff
