This looks really awesome.
And the pixel art is beautiful! Especially in these two shots:

Genuinely looking forward to some NES-style ninja action, keep up the good work!

Eventually

Currently working on an upgrade that upgrades all of your previous upgrades Big Laff
So now you can charge, then releasing the key with the previous combo inputs will make a powered up attack.
In the case of shuriken, charge - release + hold up and a shuriken becomes an explosive kunai.

Great idea for an upgrade.
The purple splash is a nice touch too.

one quick feedback on the site, i think the space between the logo text and top nav bar should be a bit smaller. looks snazzy and clean tho! all the screens pop

Loving the look of this! If someone were to say the words "retro cyberpunk japan" this is exactly what I would think of. Awesome stuff!

One of the final enemies to be implemented is the cannon teambot with jetpack.

The idea is to have at least one enemy type that's almost as advanced as some of the bosses. One by one they're not too difficult, but as a group they're very dangerous even late in the game.

Final level, 4 bosses and cutscenes left to make. I can almost see the finishing line Ninja

I've been following this project for a while, and i'm quite impressed for the screenshots.

I'm a game developer myself and a junkie for NES style games. So much that i'm creating my own line of NES style games for mobile. Currently released my first game and posted on the forum:

https://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?topic=65184.0

Since i'ts a mobile game the game is much more simpler but it sticks to the NES style to perfection. I consider myself a talented programmer but i lack on art design Tongue

7 out of 8 areas are now complete. Now onto the final level + rebalancing early levels.
Also touching up some of the earliest sprites.

New:

Oh boy, the moving pistons were a bit of a can of worms, lots of edge-cases.

-3 pixel threshold area at the edges of the squeeze that spares you  Cool
-inheriting piston movement to wall slide  Epileptic
-Squeeze kill rules in general  WTF

Still need to adjust the squeeze save push-out so it drops you instead of standing on the corner pixel  Huh?

That 3-pixel leeway is a really nice idea!
