Have been busy with a website development but currently on break and making a game with a friend, we are trying to get some hardcore survival experience in a forest.

The game: you start with nothing, nor items nor skills nor anything, its a matter of time until you die from different causes (cold being the first) luckely the plane that crashed left some debris around the map, and in that debris are the key items that will allow you to survive.

This means that whatever you find will define your survival gameplay, if you find a luggage with a fishing rod, fish will be your friend, if you find a "botanic book" will allow you to find berries in bushes, like those there will be different items to try different ways to survive.

Game is in really early development, like 2-3 days so be gentle with us (2 man team)

will be posting updates on things as we add them  Beer!

game now has a vision system, at night visibility is really reduced, (had to spawn a fire so the player wont freeze at night  Cheesy )

we are working on the firecamp/fires/fueling-  to get it right, then we will have to check ways to obtain water  Toast Right

now you can ignite the firecamp with different resources, from really basic ones (consume more energy and need more tries) vs better ignition tools (less tries and less energy used)

The code is written in Java using the libGDX framework.

if you have ideas for items or zones to add that would be cool, currently our first target is Thirst (water sources and where/how to obtain drinkable water)

After some heavy work on the engine, we are back in business!  Beer!

in this gif:

512x512 tile map (from original map gen). the gif shows:

1. the normal rendering
2. the render filter (1 chunk in every direction)
3. the loaded chunks (at the end in red and also when rendering lots of stuff)
4. the minimap for chunk status (loaded, unloaded, loading, unloading)
5. the green stuff close to end is the box2d bodies which load with chunks (1 chunk distance as the renderer)
6. the red stuff at the end are all active entities within the loaded chunks

(rocks are moving and trees on the ocean for testing  Gentleman )

Nice to see you guys back at work - this already looks impressive!

Did you guys stop developing Armored Souls, or are you just taking a break from it? Are you using assets from that here, or is this all entirely new content?
