(tbc)

//Who are you?
Hello! My Name is Henri, and I'm making a game called RELICA. Smiley
Not too sure why it's taken me so long to make a log here, I've just sort of lurked now and then without an account.

//What is RELICA?
RELICA is a peaceful yet engaging exploration platformer with metroidvania style progression and cryptographic puzzles.

//What makes RELICA unique?
  • A nonthreatening exploratory atmosphere.
  • Open island, full of secrets and puzzles. (Some may require a notebook.)
  • Variety of relics (abilities) to increase mobility options, and puzzle solving capabilites.
  • A 'Naturalistic' neo-retro aesthetic, that responds to the environment itself, the objects within it, and the actions of the player.
  • A 'Crunchy but Smooth' take on audio design, with a complimentary mix of both modern and retro audio.

//Social Feeds
| Twitter | RELICA's Site |

//Tools?
Game Maker: Studio
GIMP
Aseprite

//What else?
My work has made it to the front page of imgur a few times (1|2|3|4) at various points in development up until now, the community there has been a great help for feedback and support, so i'd like to thank them if any of my followers from there see this. Smiley

//A Few gifs (vary in version)

Thanks for reading!

Feedback on any area is very welcome, and appreciated.

Thank you!

I don't have much I have shared, as my pencil skills leave much to be desired. :\

This looks great! Is it purely 2D or is it a kind of flat 3D with layers? The interactivity of the environment gives a semi 3D feeling to it.

Hey! Thank you! It's actually all 2D but with some thoughtful use of layering it can be made to seem like it has an element of depth to it, I'm glad you like all the interactivity I keep thinking of little details I should add. Grin

I came across one of your comments in another post somewhere and was immediately drawn in by your signature, the pixel work on it was just great. I have to say I was not disappointed, this game looks very visually pleasing and I'm quite the sucker for pixel art.

More so than the art itself however, I am completely in love with the visual fx, from the slowly swaying grass and trees to the water splashes.. and oh my lord that ripple when the character was jumping in the water!
I'm very excited to see where you take this, I'm interested to see what you can bring to the table mechanics-wise to make the game stand out from other platformers. The art style and puzzles give off a Fez vibe to me, so I look forward to the outcome!

Very best of luck to you.
