Ironguard is a procedurally generated rogue-lite shooter - similar to games such as Ziggurat or Tower of Guns. Unlike some other roguelikes, Ironguard focuses on providing as few passive stat upgrades as possible and instead focuses on providing the player with weapons and items that will modify the player’s playstyle, both passively and actively. The procedural generation means that no two runs will ever be the same and runs are short, to allow a quick game to be played even during a short break.
As the player proceeds through the various challenges of the dungeon they will be rewarded with additional weapons, items and consumables. Each of the weapons and items in Ironguard are unique with each weapon having both primary and alternate fire modes, which can sometimes be used together for greater effect.

At the end of each stage the player will have to defeat that stage’s “Gatekeeper”, a mechanics-heavy boss that is designed to be more difficult than the mid-stage bosses.
