I think b&w looks pretty sweet. Maybe if you decide to add a colorful planet, you could benefit from the contrast it will cause with the other planets to make it a very very special planet, or something like that.

Think this is the best alien design I've seen in a game yet.
If my preferences are valuable to anybody, I would prefer a colored game, because color could add so much variation and without it the game feels flat and planets have virtually no atmosphere.
Still it's a cool project.

Not a whole lot of progress, but the interior is getting there. I would like to know, what do you guys think about the mixing of smooth lines and pixels? I use it for the planets and now also for the radar. Is it ugly? Should I try to make it pixelated after all? I tried pixels before but it makes it look very clunky.

uh. interior is looking cool. i like where this is going i don't mind the smooth lines, but i wouldn't use them too much to not break the consistency is the artstyle...

that seems like a cool idea you could still leave your hero white, so that the colors won't clash between him and the planets color.

Gah, this looks awesome!! I like the blend of smooth and pixel personally, and the one-tone planets work well (though so does the b&w haha) but I second that the PC shouldn't change colour to fit the planet in my opinion. I wanna play!

Oh good point. I put my Twitter in my signature now Doors and typing! I've also been playing around with the resolution, and I noticed that on fullscreen the game looks much nicer with 4x scaling (now it's 8x (or better said in the gifs/screenshots its 4x with half the resolution of fullscreen). Example 1920x1080 on 4x scalingExample 1920x1080 on 8x scalingI'll probably make it in the options to change the scaling. I think Risk of Rain does that as well?

Thanks, and yeah I've seen that games. Looks great! Not a whole lot of progress, I've had to remake and adapt the collision. That probably won't be the last time I have to redo something. This is my first big project and I except to learn a lot from it. Anway, I did a bit more to the interior. The teleporters need some work, but it's a start. The couch is supposed to be a passenger room, and the boxes are cargo. They don't have a function currently, it's more filling the ship with art temporarily. I've had enough of working on the interior for now so I'm gonna create some new creatures. Cheers!

I like that you can make people sad.
Do you get to go around planets basically just being a jerk to people? If not, you should.

It's been a while since I posted an update. I took a break to work on my tutorial series called . I'm not even sure about all the things that I added since last update. One major thing that I added is doors, and being able to go inside/outside of houses.

So I'm not convinced to use colors yet, but one idea I had is to give every planet its own color. And have space black/white. Something like this: Also, the scanner: I think the black and white looks really cool, but maybe you could have certain things have color? treat it as a secondary color to your hypothetical shading. Also, I think it'd be cool to have the main character + rocket shit keep the black and white throughout!
