Hello! I am looking for feedback on some music. I've been experimenting recently with writing loops inspired by SNES music. I could really use advice on audio production quality and general usability for new custom soundtracks.

Here is a link to a zip file containing mp3's: http://www.filedropper.com/2016-02-15musicfortigsource

Thank you so much in advance. Smiley

Sure,

Quiet Moment 3 was pretty good, needs more EQ on some of the instruments and some reverbs methinks perchance. Smiley
Racing 2 was very different from what I was expecting, kinda cool I likey Grin
I like how Cave 2 and Racing 2 seem like unintentional leitmotifs of each other haha :D, racing 2 actually sounds like
a battle them as well.

Cave music is not my cup of tea, (more of a progressive kinda guy)
but I do like the style and the arpeggios you chose for it Smiley
The melody really sticks in your head. So this is a big plus for minimalism, this is tricky to do btw imo,
(think mario bros theme) etc. My favourites are a tie between Racing 2 and Cave Music.

As for the others, I sadly dont have any more to say, I apologize Smiley

I like how you tried many different styles, which really show through your pieces.
Nice work overall, can't wait to hear what else you try out. My "style mimicing style" is similar sorta Wink

Silly to reply to this, but actually Racing 2 is pretty damn ear catching as well. If this helps, it's due to your nice styling and technique.

Hi R3MR
Seems like I cannot open this website. Do you have a link such as Soundcloud? I am also a musician and I also worked on one 8-bit game before, I would like to listen to it. Thank you!

Sorry for the extremely late reply, yep his filedropper link unfortunately expired. I uploaded it on Dropbox.
Hope this helps.  Smiley

You should look into mixing these a bit better. There's almost no high end frequencies in any of these tracks. I'm on my laptop right now and I've only winamp to play the files but it looks like everything over 7kHz roughly is nonexistent? Maybe lower, hard to see, just going by what I can hear. Revisit your instrumentation and it will make the tracks pop a lot more. use reference tracks from SNES games (check out zophar's domain if you don't know about it already). Composition wise I like some of them, although some are almost too minimalist to stand on their own and could use some more instruments to flesh them out. Quiet moment is a nice track and I could easily see it (hear it?) in a retro 8bit style game.
