DBZ ain't fucked up. It's just got the longest 5 minutes in anime history.

Also, just finished watching Serial Experiments Lain. Another masterpiece.

Part 1 of 10 of Angel's Egg. I've been looking for this movie for years now, and finally someone decided to post it. It's just genius and quite beautiful.

I'd like to hear from those that watch the whole thing what are their thoughts on its symbolism. I think there is something there about the loss of innocence, about clinging to dying things, and letting go for something better. Maybe a bit of christian criticism too.

Someone asked a few pages back if MPD Psycho is good, and I never got to respond.  Yes, it is good.  If the idea of a detective with multiple personalities (many of which are murderers) hunting down insanely twisted serial killers sounds interesting to you, I say go for it!

Kemonozume, from the creator of Mind Game. Samurais that have trouble with excrement leaking out into their pants battle flesh eating monsters in a crazy visual style. Also featuring the world's most awesome karate monkey!

Shigurui is a realistic, but very morbid and disturbing story about a Samurai tournament where the warriors engage in live combat against the law of the current Shogunate. It has a features lots of cool stuff, such as gay sex, incest, rape, intestines pouring out, mutilation and surpluss digits. Available both as manga and anime.

Gantz is a very violent and sexual manga. The plot is about people who die, and are teleported to a room from which they cannot escape. They are assigned to missions to go out and kill various weird aliens, and if they fail, they die. Exploding heads, mass murder and general mayhem with a very sick and disturbing feeling throughout. Very interesting and entertaining. And somewhat sickening. The manga is far better than the anime.

Anything by Shintaro Kago (as previously mentioned) can be considered genius!

Same goes for Junji Ito, although Uzumaki and Gyo are my personal favourites. He's written a few very interesting shorter stories as well. Definitely recommend reading one called "The Enigma of Amigara Fault". Here's a pic from Uzumaki:

Freesia by Jiro Matsumoto (who's every work seems to be filled to the brim with brutal violence, insane characters and hardcore pornography) is one of the most disturbing reads I've had. Very good, though. I love his art style. Freesia is set in an alternative Japanese society that is at war, and has passed a law legalizing retaliatory killings. If somebody kills your loved one, you are legally sanctioned to kill, or hire someone to kill, the victimizer. The manga is set around a character who works for a firm that specializes in these retaliatory killings.

I'll come back with some more recommendations some day soon Smiley

Haha, I mentioned Uzumaki earlier but I called it "Spiral" which in retrospect was fairly silly considering most people probably thought I was referring to that Ring sequel...

Anyway, Kemonozume is pretty wild. I really dug the idea of it and some of the animation is great but I could never really get into it. I think after this, I might try to go watch it again though.

Wow, Gantz sounds amazing!  I'll definitely check that one out, thanks!

Set in the future (or alternate future) where cyborgs control everything, and human beings are relegated to the bottom floor of a giant "cyber dungeon" built by unthinking machines.  The main character is Killy, who wields the "Graviton Beam Emitter" a tiny pistol that can put a mile-wide hole through anything.  The story is basically about him making his way up the cyber dungeon, killing any nasty cyborgs that get in his way.  It's awesome.  The cyborgs are frightening (as you can see above).

That's what my worst fever dreams look like. Gotta stop reading this thread.

Anyone here who reads AICN might of heard of this one:

Aachi & Ssipak is this South Korean film about a semi-dystopian future where human poop is the last available power source and the government controls its regulation by inserting ID rings into people's anuses and giving addictive "juicy bars" to good defecators. The plot revolves around two street punks (the eponymous Aachi and Ssipak), a gang of mutant blue midgets called the "Diaper Gang" who rely on juicy bars to survive, a near invincible cyborg policeman employed by the government, and the attempts of all these parties to save, capture or kill a pornstar with multiple ID rings inside of her which cause her to receive a huge number of juicy bars everytime she shits.
I don't want to say it's good because it's not, but it's definitely weird and the animation (especially the action scenes) is incredible.

That looks pretty slick, though I'm not a big fan of the clashing of styles that putting 2D on 3D does. Checked out the trailer, and it generally looks awesome anyways.

I also checked on wikipedia and found this bit of trivia about it: "The production of this movie spanned over eight years."

Kinda makes me not feel so bad for taking forever on any  game or animation project I've tried to put together.

This is a manga that was made into an anime called Yakitate Japan! All about this guy who is REALLY good at making bread, and is striving to make a cultural bread for Japan because they are lacking in the bread department I guess. His bread is SO good that it gives people these insane hallucinations called "reactions" to his bread. Fucked up in an completely different way, but really hillarious at the same time.

LOL image blocked, I am not gonna change it because this is funnier.

I'm not really particularly in to 'the anime,' but I watched Paprika last night and it was pretty excellent.

It had some really awesome... I want to say cinematography, because that's probably not the correct term. Anyway, because of the whole dream aspect of a lot of the sequences, they made use of some interesting layouts and positioning of characters, including a couple of times when characters spot themselves in the distance and then start viewing the scene from the point of view of their distant selves, and things like that.

There was also an interesting use of irony in a couple of shots where action occurs on screen which is not visible to the other characters in the frame, which is relatively uncommon, and I thought was pretty swank.

Oh god Blame! was awesome. Admittedly, the last issue lost me.
But man, every character and environment is totally awesome.
Silicon beings in particular, I remember being totally wicked cool.

Also, I assume Derek doesn't want me posting a link where you can acquire all of Blame! illegally?

Well, cuz I'm not a native speaker, I'm not sure if "totally fucked up" means good (ironically) or bad animes... but I think the following one belongs to both - it just depends what you like Wink. The anime's called Labyrinth of Flames and has nearly no story. During the Movie (just two 30min parts) it's nearly impossible to find a scene with a women, where you don't see panties (Arne would love it Wink ). Well, this Review says everything, I think.

http://www.themanime.org/viewreview.php?id=272

You can watch the movies on Stage6 with High-Quality on japanese with german-subtitles, but don't worry. You don't need to understand the story. But if you like, I'm pretty sure you find a english version somewhere in the net.

Definitely recommend reading one called "The Enigma of Amigara Fault".

No kidding, that one's pretty creepy. I like how it ends.
