Fox Face can't be an enemy...he's way too cute!
This game looks awesome. It's giving me Chrono Trigger vibes. Loving it!

Thanks for the compliment, Bakuda. Chrono Trigger is one of the best games ever made, in my opinion, so that's pretty high praise, for me. ^ ^ Another update - a magical lightning strike! Also featuring the "death" animations for the Fox Faces, hahah.

^Hahah, yes, I do understand that there is a bit of irony in my game's name. X'D Soul (ostensibly) Healer.

Hey, I just found your post on my game and like to return the favor. The lightning bolt animation looks very nice. And the death force impulse seems very funny to me, because the force is way to big. But don't change it. It's cool. Almost reminds me of the RTS-Game Z. When the turrets gets blown off. I noticed that your aren't using dark colors in your art. In my opinion you could really improve the sprites by using more contrast. Be strong and brave and also use darker colors.

Thank you! And I agree with the death impulse. I played around with it, and this was the most satisfying I could get it, even though it makes no sense, heheh. I noticed that your aren't using dark colors in your art. In my opinion you could really improve the sprites by using more contrast. Be strong and brave and also use darker colors. Yeah. It's a problem with me as an artist, and it's also a problem with my monitor - the colors on this thing are awful. If I'm sitting eye-level with it, all the colors are dark and contrasty. When I stand up and look at this stupid thing at the "correct" angle, all the colors are brighter and less contrasty. It sucks! I found an old Sony Trinitron CRT on craiglist for pretty cheap, though. Gonna go check it out today. The colors/viable viewing angle on that thing should be much better. I'm actually going to add a contrast shader to a few of my older tilesets, because the difference between what I thought I was drawing and what I was actually drawing is so big. Hopefully that helps!

I'm glad you will add more contrast. Maybe you need just some reference Pictures. Or yes a new monitor. good luck with that!

Fish/aquatic fossils can be found in deserts/mountains in real life!
Cool footprints. It would be cool if you can flood the desert.

Fish/aquatic fossils can be found in deserts/mountains in real life! I know! It's always been a cool image to me. :D This dried up sea was caused by more supernatural causes, though. Cool footprints. Thanks! I drew them and programmed them in about an hour with no problems or errors showing up. I was pretty happy. When I have no bugs in my code or errors in my artwork, it feels like a small miracle. :'D It would be cool if you can flood the desert. I think you'll like our game...

Also featuring the "death" animations for the Fox Faces, hahah. And little did the player know-- they were the real monster! The priestess had gone rogue, killing the very Fox Faces she'd sworn to protect. It had all been a sham.... I couldn't resist. Is this from earlier on in the game?

Very reminiscent of the SoM spells, obviously. Nothing wrong with that, I know that's what you're going for. I like the effect - but I think the time after the lightning strikes, before motions resumes again, is a bit too long. I might try to cut that down by .5 seconds or so.

I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this. Looks Great! Btw, I noticed the destructible fence posts, and that with the hint on flooded deserts has me excited. I always like games that have a world that changes with plot progression, and you can interact with it.

not sure about your comment... This game looks amazing! Post more gifs! I love me some 16bit-ish ARPG's.. I believe the genre has plenty of untapped potential. I'll believe that until the day we have 1/10th as many ARPG's as we have side scrolling platformers..
