Just bought it, and downloading it now!

Edit: Played it for about an 45 minutes while having my coffee, really liking it so far. Some people don't like the no-dialogue, but I think it adds to the whole atmosphere. It gives me zelda 1 vibes just kinda walking around not knowing where I was going at first.

I wouldn't say it's revolutionary, but the art, design, style, music (by Disasterpeace) and presentation is absolutely fantastic. Think Fez + Zelda, and I mean that in the best way possible. Basically from my experience so far it's a Good Videogame.


Only thing I can really complain about is that Titan Souls bit it's style pretty hard and came out a year earlier, so there is that feeling of "seen this before" here and there, becuz gamemaker. That's not a fault of hyper light, just how it goes when you have a project in long development with high visibility.  Cry

hmm ok sounds good. is this a gam that requires significant skill and/or time investment? because from what i know about the combat and etc it kinda seems that way. im already juggling 3 complex games at the moment (stardew valley, dark souls 2 SOTFS, grim dawn) so i don't think i'll have room for one more lol.

I never really bought into the hype for this. I didn't follow development at all nor did I back it on Kickstarter.

However, I bought the game and played it for about ~4 hours so far. I would recommend it for sure.

HLD has a 'high profile indie polish' vibe that I haven't really seen since FEZ (also Disasterpeace is doing the soundtrack, like James mentioned.)
Controls are super tight, music is great, atmosphere is excellent. Good game overall.

i did but it seems really inferior to the original arcade version. they removed the slowdown at certain crucial points, such as the level 2 balrog fight, making it almost impossible to dodge certain bullet patterns. i for one am going to stick with my original first revision PCB that i imported from japan for several 1000 dollars.

Sounds like a typical Neo Geo port. They probably took out the largest character and got rid of all the scaling effects too, didn't they?
