Here we go again. Seems it's become my tradition to be starting these threads. LD35 is in two weeks. Who's in?

I haven't looked at themes or anything yet. Don't know if voting has started... Check for yourselves.

Copypasted explanation of LD from last thread:

You vote for a theme (or you don't and just accept the theme that wins in the end) in the days running up to the event, and then based on that theme or keyword you get 48 or 72 hours (plus a submission hour) to make a game (48 hours is referred to as compo and 72 as jam and they have different rules — jam is more relaxed and you're allowed to work in a team — so make sure you read the rules on the website first).

When the time is up, a couple of weeks of playing games and rating them (only people who submitted their own games can do this) commences, and if you want to get ratings yourself you need to do this.

You don't win anything beyond good ratings at best, but it's fun and you always grow a little bit as a developer, as does your portfolio!

Finally, link (you need to register on the site to be able to vote and submit, so I recommend doing this in good time before having to post your game): http://ludumdare.com/compo/

Remember that you need to host your game yourself — the LD website does not provide this. Also you need to make it work at least on web or Windows (I think?) to be allowed to submit your game.

The best properly official Twitter hashtag these days seems to be #LDJAM, even if you're doing the compo.

Great blog post here on considering keyboard differences between countries and so on, and more to bear in mind!

Y'know...I think I'll give this one a shot.

I've seen these competitions and they seem pretty fun, been slumping lately and maybe this will help shake off some cobwebs.  At the very least it's gonna be fun and I'm a big proponent of fun.

The 15th falls right on the beginning of my work-week so my submission is likely going to be sparse but hey...I look forward to my participation ribbon and seeing what other submissions come in.  Smiley

Well, I never work alone at least, so it's a little less workload on me alone. Will be some 3-4 people this time. 2 for sure, 1 probably and another possibly just for the first day rather than throughout the whole thing, but still.

Started looking at and voting for themes today. Found a few I like so far.

I'm definitely in on this one. That'll be my 4th participation, hopefully improvement will be noticable compared to my previous entries.

Good luck to all the brave darers!

I would join but Unfortunately I have Final exams the next week so I will have to skip this one!
They are fun, would recommend it to others to do it for the experience and motivation to make a game!

What's the matter with people? There was a decent amount of good themes during the weeding but the first round of themes to vote for today was horrible. How did it end up like this? Hoping for better stuff tomorrow.

ANYWAY!

Wrote a little post on the LD blog about my preparations in the form of pre-LD experiments: http://ludumdare.com/compo/2016/04/10/be-prepared-2/

I literally just came back from voting for that same theme...

@anyone who is familiar with the LD rules: I'm seeing a lot of people posting with lists of tools/programs they intend to use, is this a requirement for participating?

My aforementioned spouse told me to put a yes on that one, which I hadn't done myself, so that's one of two themes we yessed together.

Nah, it's just a bit of a tradition.
