Wooooooo! Made it in before the clock ended!

Whew...what a weekend, that's some hard dev'n lol.  Seriously I had to work all three days of the jam, next time I'm calling in sick.

Didn't have time to include everything I intended to so my entry kinda boils down to a groovy looking maze, but at least I get to participate in the jam proper.

Perhaps you'd like to play?

I'm going to do some serious mental recuperation before playing others submissions, from what I'm seeing there are some ones.

Cheers guys!

I was the music/sound-man as part of a team that made "Imperfection", our Ludum Dare 35 submission!

Enjoy!

If you want to listen to the audio by itself, I uploaded it to Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/tony-manfredonia/imperfection-ludum-dare-35

I can't wait to play everyone's games! :D

Good morning. Finally. The computer had the most classic of breakdowns last night as we were finishing up (Unity process went zombie when I was about to export the game, and basically every program on the computer was freezing up or crashing!), plus I had introduced some bugs/mistakes last minute and I found lots more today after having slept properly. Waaagh!

Anyway, I left most of it aside and went to sleep and fixed the rest up as soon as I woke up. Here we go...

Three of us worked on this, but one didn't have time all weekend and the other two of us weren't really feeling well, so it's not as polished as our recent entries...

No fancy dynamic camera or little cutscenes and not even sound effects, tho I don't think this game necessarily needs them. I got started a little bit on them when we had some 2 hours left, but I really wasn't feeling up to it, plus it just wasn't enough time to figure out a fitting audio profile for this game and make it work dynamically with the weird and unpredictable octopus physics, so I dropped it.

The game is also kind of lacking in content. You switch between two characters, a squishy octopus (that's the mechanical take on the theme) and a tadpole that grows up into a frog throughout the game (that's the narrative take) and let them help each other out to get through the level, but we didn't have much time to figure it all out and in the end we failed to give anything to do to the tadpole at all. But the later stages are useful, so don't worry.

I guess we'll view this as more of an experiment. The octopus was fun to work on, but I didn't really do anything else at all during the first day, so I lost a lot of time there.

Will revisit and look at other entries later! Today is for resting. And trying to feel well again. x:

Really looking forward to playing some of these. Here's my entry:

http://ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-35/?action=preview&uid=21166

It's pretty goofy but I think it turned out okay. I'm especially pleased with the flight controls - I hadn't tried anything like that before.

I made an absurd adventure game in Game Boy (Pokemon/Zelda) style!

Here it is, here's our entry. It's a tiny metroidvania with some molecule-based gameplay. Didn't have time to polish it as much as I wanted to but I think it's good enough. Have fun if you get to play it! http://ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-35/?action=preview&uid=48996

Can't wait to play some of you guys' games, all the screenshots are pretty good looking!

My competition entry, Shifty's Shape Escape, is ready to play: http://ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-35/?action=preview&uid=23957

I had a lot of issues with keyboard ghosting initially, which has been a big learning experience for me. Never make a game which requires four simultaneous keypresses.  Wink

I think the latest bugfix version solves the control issues for the majority of people though. Please have a play and let me know how you get on!

Finally started playing and rating some games so far. I've only done one from TIGS ATM but more coming up.

My absolute favourite so far is this one, Chrysalide:

Second ATM is actually from TIGS; torcado's Ghost Bird:

(you'll have to read my comment on there for my thoughts, torcado!)

Thanks for introducing me to Chrysalide, it was never in my to-judge list and it's very fun!

My current favorite is You Are What You Eat, which is here in this thread! Absolutely great. The petty criticisms in some of the comments bother me a lot for some reason.

Played a bunch of the web entries posted in this thread. Downloaded some Mac standalones for later. Might borrow a Windows computer for exclusive games at some point.

Making Aftertile

I realized just now that I haven't posted the link for my ghastly game :D So here it is: Aftertile

PLAY IT HERE

Context:
The ghost needs to find a place to rest, by turning into a tile while inside walls and becoming one with the environment.
There's a special place to find rest, though, different from the others. That would be the best place for this ghosty ghost. You just need to get there.

Features:
  • Multiple endings
  • squashing boop sounds
  • cute ghost!

My favorite game so far is the eggplant one :D

My entry this time was: Shifty withch

I've got mixed feelings about my contribution this time. The game play could have been so much better if I had just managed to get one 1-2 hour or so to play with enemy patterns. On the other hand I'm d really happy with how I got the game code, libs and tool chain to work together.

You're allowed to reuse code in future Ludum Dare compos right?

Yeah, so long as you make a new game with it. Especially framework-like code or boilerplate stuff is perfectly fine. If you implement A* one LD then of course you can use that code next time too.

I've done it! I finished my game, the post compo version is out! This is the first time I actually can label a game I made "finished", it feels GREAT. Now that I've sank the last week and a half finishing the compo version, I still have time to go and rate games.

Get it here!

So how did y'all do? I did better than last time and humor keeps being my top placement, although this time I kinda expected it. Aiming to break top #100 next time!

Here are the results on our game Aether Crypt. Breaking in the top 100 in 5 categories was really unexpected and especially the #33 overall. Really improved from last time and I'm pretty proud of our Mood score. Huge props to Cynicus, my music team mate this time around. See y'all in August for LD36!
