So, some days ago I was told that Namco just signed a contract with an Indie Team, the game is a 2D side scroller Hack & Slash, with some Guacamelee Inspiration.

I'm quite surprised by this, I mean, I've read that Namco signed deals with some Indie Teams in the past years, but looks like now Namco is working with more Indie Devs than ever, since this Team is from a foreign country and isn't particularly experienced.

I've worked with Namco on 2 particular projects. One was cancelled, the other was with a small indie company & we shipped an iOS game.

They're definitely reaching out more, especially as far as mobile games are concerned. This looks potentially neat.

For what I've checked here, almost all Namco's Mobile games are already existing IPs. Still seems low probable to me.

PS: I'm not sure if they actually signed a contract, or they just got "accepted", my source wasn't that clear.

You didn't specify anything about original IPs, so ok.

Edit: one of the games I work on *was* an original ip, but it was canned.

Why did they can it?
